A suggestion is that you should be able to buy them with Obols from The Purveyor of Curiosities. Perhaps 100 Obols per Living Steel so you can get a Duriel run for 1000 Obols. 50 would be even better but maybe too generous.
This would not only improve the Living Steel situation but also make Obols relevant at higher levels.

I’m beginning to wonder why these uber bosses have a material cost at all tbh.
Last I checked you didn’t have to grind any materials to do a bhaal or mephisto run.
I’d have much preferred lower drop rates on infinitely grindable bosses than these quasi-guaranteed drops that come with the cost of making every other form of content a mandatory grind.
I actually rather liked Helltides as a piece of content, but now I’m starting to resent it.

i am wondering what the USE for uber uniques is? you dont even need any of them to clear t100 in 3 minutes or lillith or 1 shot any of the bosses
MHO it should be linked to your level rather than materials …
Helltides could use some polish to make them more in line with things like new seasonal themed vampire zone. More events (not the Obol events, but the things like with obelisks that you have to defend and more and more demons spawn) dedicated whispers (3x), etc. Running around trying to get the mobs is painful. They should be coming at you, not vice-versa.
But you’re wrong. Uber Duriel shouldn’t be easy to access. Materials should still drop as they do, you only should be able to farm the helltide currency faster with the changes I suggested above, why? Because In D2, you wrongly assumed that Meph/Baal are ubers. They ain’t. Those are act bosses and to fight actual uber bosses, you’d have to either farm and vendor SoJ’s(for uber Diablo) or farm lesser uber bosses (once, after you farm act bosses for keys) for materials to enter uber tristram. It was actually more tedious than D4 is. And Diablo 4 shouldn’t go the way of D3 (nor way of d2), where everything is granted to you for logging in, or is very time consuming to extreme levels. The more game will be brought in line with casual oriented players, the less it will attract those who are willing to play it as their main game. Eventually, Diablo will suffer with lack of people playing it, if we dumb everything down, that is
. ARPG needs to have grind. (just let us have more demons running at us in helltides, just like in the vamp zone please)
But the unique ubers are useless, you can very well close the T100s without problems, the game is so easy that you can close alone while the rest of the group can stay at the entrance. The end game is really boring, what kind of end game would it be to kill Duriel to find the unique ubers?
says the one using only 1 shot copy cat builds. I bet a million you never done lilith with all the phases ;)… Come again ty
lamea$$ gatekeeping to prolong engagement metrics… if you do a perfect helltide run with 1200 cinders and get 4 boxes with living steel you can do not even a single Duriel run for that cause you need what… 5 to spawn the previous boss to get ONE ressource out of him?. PATHETIC UNFUN zero creativity and obviously just trying to stretch out the thin sheet of content. And on top of that the 300 box constantly bugs out and doesnt spawn 1 out of 2 nearly every helltide. Teleporting back and forth to get it somehow to appear might work in 50% of the cases.
Guess what: If you had friends also playing, you would get at least twice the amout per Helltide run. It is ok the way it is imo.
I don’t like how I am usually spending time riding and watching the minimap instead of fighting.
This idea: There’s an npc u can find and it will give you directions to the nearest secret chest. That way there’s more possibilities to find the chest naturally instead of running about for it.
I’d love more ways to acquire steel but also I feel like the other guy up there: Why is this in? The answer is: Gating. Then the question becomes: Why are they gating the gear?
My idea of playing this is that I roam the map and I may find a ruined tower or a defiled basement that I visit. I pass a village where I sell off the loot and perhaps make repairs, and I then continue my roaming. I meet a guy and we take down a boss that spawned, cool stuff. Free style.
But that’s not possible because all the items are locked behind Duriel and Zir, and roaming the map will get me nowhere in terms of gear.
If you suggest this with 1000 Dollar instead of Obols Blizzard will implent it tomorrow with a quick patch.
The most annoying thing is that the chest don´t even spawn sometimes.
