Necromancer (diablo4?) down

Well, whoever was the smart*** to call for a minion health nerf (due to not being enough engaging) should be happy. The minions are literally useless now, they die like flies. Not kidding, every boss just melts them in seconds.

It nearly impossible to play the minion spec necromancer. Even the trashmobs slaughter our skeletons. I agree on that the part that"minions wasn’t engaging", however something like “reduce there damage slightly” on baseline, and give a bigger buff on their damage while you use the skeleton priest would have solved this… Instead, now its 100% unplayable.

I played all the classes in the first open beta and barb and druid felt a bit behind, but now the whole game feels like its in a staging state, where you have no idea how the actual math should/will look like for live. I mean this is so awful now even on low level, that i don’t even want to imagine the so called endgame.

I already brought the game, but I am strongly considering a refund. The game feels terrible now overall.

You are not the only one. Our whole discord is fuming and a lot of people want to refund if before release they wont see patch notes with fix (and they mean before early start) as most of them bought delux editions.

I can imagine. I am a long time Diablo fan since the first game back from 97’. Diablo2 was perfect, Diablo3 not so much, and Immortal… Well, lets just ignore it happened.

I brought the ultimate version, I wanted to show some respect for Blizzard for bringing us this game. It did look fine over the open beta. I was aware that we didn’t see much of the actual game so all the glitches was okay by me. But considering it should be better now, “after they took feedback”… and here we are.

They killed one class and I am reading druids and sorces aren’t happy either.

Its beyond me that such a large and wealth company as Blizzard can’t put together an inside testing team to work math out for their game. I mean they have been developing games for 30 years… Most of there games are broken at start. I have to give them credit for the server slam. At least they are addressing the server issues from a preemptive approach. But the game is not looking good at all. And that is a bigger problem. Feels very unfinished, especially now.

Dear Blizzard, we want to have fun playing your game, and I can tell you that the classes feels crap from what we have seen so far.

Btw update: I was finally able to solo “the mother” dungeon with minions necro after like 10 wipes. Now I am fighting big trees in another dungeon, they are average trash mobs and they have a cleave attack. Guess what, they destroy all of my skeletons with one cleave attack… Wooo FUN! I had a group fight where there were almost infinite corpses and i wasn’t able to spam my skele warrior fast enough to have them reproduced.

Fix this mess please (other classes also).

I think they should’ve nerfed the health of skeletons in the late game, forcing you to actually spec into them so they can be viable.

Nerfing them early on is so bad instead of actually spending time doing damage you keep pressing 1 to re-summon them…

Yeah that’s really disappointing. Getting a gameplay when you continously res and res the minions, pretty weird and boring… let’s see what they do with the fixing

So many of these posts, yet I’ve had no issues what so ever? How are you guys specializing? If you really lean into all the minion nodes, and use Decrepify there shouldn’t be an issue.

I’ve done all T2 content now on necro (minion build) and it was a cake walk, not a single death. I really don’t understand all these posts. Sure you have to resummon some minions now and then, and during boss fights it can get a bit hectic, but that’s just fun imo.

I normally don’t play minions in any game because of the snooze fest they are, but here it actually is quite engaging. I didn’t play necro before the server slam, so I don’t know what they were like before, but I for once have actually enjoyed a minion class/build.

After the update recently they don’t die as much.
They still instantly die from swipes though…
It still needs work, i went for reapers and the flesh ripper node that generates corpses on hits.
Maxed the 3/3 node to increase their HP and damage.
Not frustrating as much as before where they died instantly to every hit from an elite or boss.
I do hope for a bit more buffs but they did improve them a bit.

Apparently they made some fixes, the minions are working so-so now. I have just killed “hard mode” Ashava at lv20 with this build. The minions survived a few attacks even there surprisingly. On trash mobs the skeletons are fine now, even on elites in dungeons. If you produce some corpse while fighting and use the skeleton priest on cd they are manageable now.

A small update on minion necro from a casual’s point of view:

My necro and how I play:

I am level 20. Using decompose with +damage taken node, all my skeletons melee and mages both are “talented” for 3/3. I have Blight with +damage taken on mobs also. Decrepify only on elites, bosses and bigger fights.
I also use blood mist with “Ghastly blood mist”. It is a safe way to have corpses against bosses on demand. I had to use this on cd to have enough corpses to be able to kill bosses before they have been rebuffed. Against Ashava I used it as a survive tool, but used the corpes to get skeletons back each time they was missing. Also if you have the legendary that explodes corpses for you on Blood Mist it makes the trash cleaning quicker but against bosses I would suggest to replace it.

A few more things, what I personally would like to see to be done for release:

  • give skeletons some regeneration (yeah i know we got skelly priest but its not enough)
    Reason: Skeletons cannot be re-summoned at will, and/or healed without corpses.

  • reduce dot damage (debuff, ground effect) on skeletons (probably golem as well).
    Reason: Minions are dumb and stay in dot damage on ground, and we have no ability to control them (it would be actually more engaging, like Last Epoch has this feature…)

  • give our beloved skeletons (and golems) some aoe damage reduction (something similar you have in wow) This should affect cleave, slam whatever aoe abilities from monsters.
    Reason: Same as above, -we have no ability to control them.

  • golems (check and tune the golems before release as well)
    Reason: Better be safe then sorry.

  • more minion damage from talents points (its not my job do the math for you, but it should be around 10% (maybe up to 15%?) on a full army, against a boss)
    Reason: Bosses felt incredibly tanky against my army. Even my decompose basic skill did better damage then my melee skeletons. I use reapers. Against trash and elites, its okay. But against bosses its not good enough in my humble opinion.

Overall, I am not mad anymore. The fix made the class at least playable again, but please consider some more minor buffs.
