Hi there,
I’m curious if anyone knows is a Nemesis system for Diablo IV will be in plans?
Hi there,
I’m curious if anyone knows is a Nemesis system for Diablo IV will be in plans?
Nooooo…
That is too smart for them.
And it’s a patent, so no one can use it. And Microsoft/Activision won’t pay for it.
I dont see how this is supposed to fit into the game in any way?
Perhaps you want to elaborate why you think D4 needs this system.
Nemesis system. So you mean having an elaborate system in place that has you meet named NPCs wandering the world out to kill you and you can recruit/kill them for loot?
Tell me first, why do you think it would benefit this game to have such a thing?
Edit: To answer Mr1000volt’s question, no, I have heard no plans to add this. Could be fun though!
A nemesis system existed for Diablo III for consoles, but was never added to the edition on PC, likely because the PC and console edition were essentially two different games.
For those curious, you can read about it: https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Nemesis_Kills
I assume that a similar system is wished for Diablo IV, which I would also like. We already have The Butcher, but one more monster to fear cannot hurt
What Rahsna says. Thank you Rahsna. That’s exactly what I’m talking about, the Nemesis system from D3 Console version. Would just be cool and kinda fun to have nemesis creatures from your friends list show up in your game. Something like end bosses, with the tag of your friends, that attack you like the butcher from the beta.
Because The Butcher was not terrifying enough ?
As long as I don’t play hardcore, I would welcome such random challenges. But damn, did that guy crush me…the first time I was totally unprepared, and he hit me like a truck xD
Good point! Although The Butcher was in hardcore, and I saw so many die to him though a compilation that @Diablo on Twitter had made.
If the nemesis system was implemented in Diablo IV, I do not think that the game would ‘spare’ hardcore players from the feature. Unless it was a softcore-only feature?
I guess this is one of those times where you should be careful what you wish for
But yes, a Nemesis system within hardcore mode with an increasingly stronger opponent (depending on how many of your friends it has killed before spawning in your game) would be one less reason to play hardcore, since these two kind of monsters are less about the right survival tactics in skills and gear and more about just poor bad luck
You could really get a lot out of this system with a little work.
There could be extra rewards for killing, for the killer and for the initial sender of the nemesis.
A way to keep track of who the nemesis has defeated from the friends list.
The monster could possibly use preferred skills of the players it has killed. Anyway, there is a lot of potential to make this system interesting and fun.
