Were there any mentions of Nephalem in Diablo 4? I didn’t notice it.
According to the lore of the Nephalem, is this a race of superhumans or all the inhabitants of Sanctuary?
Right here! been playing since the beta’s.
All humans are nephalem, Rathma is mentioned in the campaign and he is first generation nephalem
It’s a long story, I suggest you go to Youtube and look up the “Diablo 4 Lore”. The stramer “Rhykker” has a 10 part Diablo Lore with a run-time of around 2 hours that covers it all.
Inarius and Lilith, tired of the eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell stole and used the World Stone to create Sanctuary, a world hidden from Heaven and Hell. A bunch of other Angels and Demons joined them, ‘got it on’ and birthed the Nephalem, who were more powerful than Demons and Angels.
Inarius who saw the Nephalem as abominations used the World Stone to make the Nephalem weaker over time, they eventually lost all their powers and became simple Humans. (Almost all of them anyway).
Lilith was unhappy with this and killed all the Angels and Demons in an attempt to save Humans/Nephalem but was bested by Inarius who exiled her from Sanctuary.
As far as I am aware after Baal corrupted the World Stone and Tyrael destroyed it the powers of humans stopped diminishing, but most people are Human at this point.
I assume now the World Stone has been destroyed that the Humans/Nephalem will not get any weaker, and their remains a few who are strong (The characters we play).
I guess they forgot to employ writers because I feel like Lilith returning to Sanctuary had soooo much potential. And they messed it up.
She was supposed to be both good and bad, she wanted to protect Sanctuary and restore the powers of the Nephalem but, well, the story just became bland, I’m not sure about Diablo 4 at all, what did I just witness? Maybe the Expansion will fill in the blanks but I doubt it.
But there are characters in the Diablo 4 world who clearly made a deal with Lilith, giving her help/assistance in return for power.
Good summary of the story of the nephalem and yes I agree the story is a total mess in diablo 4. Inarius was supposed to be held captive in hell and bound in chains, tortured but somehow just appeared back in sanctuary without a single scratch on him?
Tyrael just one day randomly walked away from the horadrim (that he helped build) for no reason and we have no clue if he is alive or dead.
There are no mention off heaven or the angels at all, what happened to them?
Where is diablo? Is this not a diablo game???
Why does every new character we get introduced too just die off to a random mob off screen? The only characters I liked in the new story was Elias, Rathma, Lillith and maybe Inarius and they all died for nothing, right as they started getting interesting.
There was only like 1 good cinematic playing if you don’t count the “by three they come” which happened before the game even starts. Also the ending of each act where lorath just speaks to us about what happened was boring and stupid, I much would have preferred a cinematic, cutscenes or anything else.
Damn, good point! WTF ;p how did he escape his torture chamber in hell.
Agreed, it started getting interesting in the last Act and suddenly its over. The campaign needed to be 2 to 3 times longer for the money I paid.
And the expansion will probably only provide 10% more story (Which I think I’ll just watch on Youtube from this point on).
Imagine if in the expansion they brought tyrael back as an angel and diablo and then at the end of the new story we fight diablo in an epic battle, then at the end of the fight we get a full on 10 minute full cgi cinematic of tyrael and diablo fighting one on one.
If they did that I will excuse blizzard of all wrongs they have ever done.
I think the opening act of Diablo 4 ruined it for me.
A whole town converted into Lilith worshipers with a few words from her. Killing their own priest and drugging our character for sacrifice… cool!
I was expecting legions of Lilith worshipping Nephalem alongside Demons to fight. A real struggle, but we only encountered the occasional person who had helped Lilith in return for power, but how many?.. 5 people (Guesstimate).
What did we get? An empty world, 40 towns that were all peaceful (Bar a few side-quests).
Could have had towns all over the world converting to one of the two religions. Parts of the world converted that we’d need to fight until they repent.
Yeah, Diablo and Tyrael retuning might be quite cool, but I don’t think I’d forgive Bliz***d for the rest hehe.
I honestly think the story should of escalated from and too rather than having the story radically alter at whim without any explanation to how this certain character came to be… or escaped hell to start with… its incredibly lacking and would annoy those who know the story truly, or rather what is told… as stories go sometimes things get butchered completely… happens in real life with certain books that have been normal for thousands of years… then the story changes because its politically correct to do so.
Of course im not saying Blizzard would go down this road as they make Awesome games like D4.
Not all humans no. Nephalem refers to the offspring of angel and demon, the story of lilith would be short af if everyone in the world of sanctuary were nephalems.
I find it weird that there is barely any mentioning, other than small references in passing, about previous events at all.
Nephalem are humans that have angels and demon power. Either their blood inherited those power strongly or they got the power in some other ways somehow. With time they came to near extinction because of dilution, I think they also got massacred somehow at some point.
This is written clearly in the lore, Not all humans are Nephalem right now despite what a lot of people claim.
Why is there no Tristram / new Tristram on the map? Is it another region of sanktuario? Honest question…
I wanna visit the grave of Deckard Chain. I also miss the Tristram music you hear it in the few scenes of the campaign where you are in Mephs vision but beside that you dont what is a shame I love that music.
Tristram is on the other side of sanctuary sadly, as well as pretty much every zone from diablo 2 and 3.
The only exception I’ve seen so far has been caldeum, alcarnus, and some parts of kehjistan.
