I won’t bore you with my Diablo knowledge and experience, but know I have it. From D1 in 1997 to now. A hardcore only player as I feel that’s the only way to capture the atmosphere and horror this game is supposed to have. Diablo 4 is on point. Awesome.
When I look at skills I’m thinking, how does this help me survive as opposed to how does this help me kill faster. Go slow. Survive. Feel the horror. Immerse yourself. You guys are playing it wrong. that being said make veteran difficulty harder. Current veteran should be the base especially with the huge sways in character imbalance which I hope is semi fixed as total balance isn’t needed. I love how warrior was much harder than sorc in endgame d1 for example and warriors easier in beginning.
Unfortunately the immersion is lost when monsters are respawning where I just was and I’m seeing “420MomTitties69” killing the elite I was just searching for in my quest. Make players toggleable in open world, in town is fine I like that aspect.
A lot of things are done right in Diablo 4 as I’ve seen from the last 2 weekends. I like how items are semi limited and thoughtful. I’m not rained with 3 items gold and potions when something dies. But some things are literally making me stop in my tracks and look at the wall in disgust. Breaking all immersion and sometimes I just shut it off.
That’s my 2 cents from an old guy who still plays Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 both resurrected and old patches from old cds. I’m telling you right now if anyone understands the vibes you should be getting from “Diablo” it’s me. and Diablo 4 is very close.
Yes it’s quite “interesting” seeing the difference of power early game in classes. I played them all. Starting with barb first I thought ,awesome. Then as I played rogue sorcerer I was having some concerns. This weekend playing Druid and necro I was kind of annoyed of just how unbalanced it is. But it’s the beta. So hopefully that’s what it’s for. Testing.
Barbarian is really bad at some bosses though and unless you have certain skills it’s hard (feels less tested) while the sorc or any range has no issues with much. Even with 4 skills as sorc i flew to level 25.
When “bigmommyTitties69” killed the woodman guy I was trying to get the axe from before I even saw him. Leaving me with an axe to pickup and finish quest. When I clear a whole map and am looking at my skills and the monsters reappear and are hitting me.
Bad. It’s bad.
Want monsters to respawn in area? Shift click on map while in town. Been done long ago. Don’t force people in my area. Breaks immersion especially on quests when I’m not even partied with them!
I recall from my WoW days that Blizzard have a habit of leaving certain classes, or introducing new ones, that are OP. With only a few months before release I doubt things are going to change significantly before then.
So after the usual outcry that x is OP it usually takes them many months before they do anything about it. So balance may come around xmas time.
However, I don’t see really an issue here. Sidequests barely have any story parts that can be triggered by other players killing your target enemies. Their dialogues are only played when you interact/fulfill the prompts for it.
Story missions are always instanced from what I have seen.
I really don’t see how that breaks immersion. To me, such complaints look like coming from people that live their lifes IRL and complain about seeing other people for no reason.
I totally agree, by the way, that it is good to read opinions with prior knowledge and criteria, without hate or sectarian and fanatical comments. from respect and love for the Diablo saga
Seen posts like this before several times, wondering if it was intentional. Barbs are tanks, the game is not diablo but wow reskinned with tanks, dps, support. You play barb you probably going to need help cause you won’t do enough dmg yourself.
This is my current theory so far though, take it as you will.
When you look at some Barb skills there are passives that enhance skills to support players around.
Just makes me wonder, is the difficulty on higher levels or endgame itself cranked up so high that you have to play with other players? And I’m not talking world bosses, just simple exploration and mobs. That would be bad if the end game would force you to play with others or don’t play at all.
one thing is .almost all dungeons are long way to finish and that’s ok but, or you walk back to the exit or you need to use a portal back to the city because there is not a way to go back soon to the dungeon entrance like D3 ( pilons).
There is a way back to the entrance. It’s not really intuitive and I had to ask around to find the way but when you finish dungeon all you have to do is open the map and click on the entrance (the staircase icon). That will create a teleport to the entrance just outside the dungeon.
No… D4 is soloable. We had a beta and Barbarian to me needs tweaking. As i said running around for 20-30 seconds waiting for cooldowns, popping all your potions and all the potions that drop because Barbarians can no longer resist damage is not fun. My sorc is more of a tank than my barb for crying out loud. I get that Barbarians do less damage but they should be able to resist more than they do.
D3 barbs are literally indestructable (not suggesting this).
I’ll my own experience here. I definitely enjoyed the beta, and I think when it’s fully released it will be a great game. Will probably need some polish…as most large games do. D3 was definitely an example of that. It got really good after it was released and had a few major updates.
I started with the Sorcerer and had a blast. Really enjoyed being able to respec frequently to try things out. Made most of the classes fun to play as you figured out what playstyle was the most fun for that class.
Necro was also sup[er fun, I much prefer it over the D3 Necro…made me feel more like it was closer to the D2 Necro. Probably a tad overpowered though when I had 2 separate items give me +2 more skeletons…which +2 applied tot e warriors and the other +2 applied to the mages…odd but ok. I ended up with 12 skeletons and a golem so was pretty easy to steam role. Minions definitely lasted longer in this version.
Graphics are quite good and I love the new darker theme. D3 Sometimes looks like a bunch of rainbows exploded on the screen…still fun though don’t get me wrong. Having the events restart a minute after you finished it was a little offputting. Didn’t make them feel special or random.
Barbarian ended up being fun once I played around with the combat styles and found what was most satisfying to play. I
Rogue I didn’t enjoy as much, was kinda hoping for something closer to the D2 Assassin, but I think at higher levels it will still be a fun class to play.
Lastly the druid…I felt the druid was lacking a bit and felt like I was struggling in the early levels. Once pets and better skills came in to play it was a little better, just felt like a rough grind to get to that point.
Overall I think the game will be fantastic and I know the Blizzard team will be making tweeks and changes as they always do and we will have another great game to play for another decade. Definitely appreciate all the hard work that went into this.
