Was expecting an e-mail with a link to a feedback form to arrive after the beta ended, but since that’s not happening, I’m going to submit my two cents here.
First and foremost, the beta experience was very good for me. I know that other people had serious issues but, as a SE Europe player who usually suffers from tremendous lag, the stability this time around was a true miracle. If not for some minor bugs and performance issues, I could swear I was playing the final version of the game. I know that cost a lot of effort so thank you for making it happen!
Wishes:
- Add the ability to see completed quests in the journal
- Restore the ability to bind Mouse Wheel Up/Mouse Wheel Down to “Force Move” like we could in Diablo III as well as the closed alpha for Diablo IV
- LFG tool
- Some variation to the body types of the classes. I’m not asking you to break their identities completely (e.g. scrawny 7’ barb) but it would be nice to have some wiggle room in terms of musculature, height, facial structure
- Add an option to toggle between:
- minimap in the corner of the screen
- semi-transparent minimap in the centre of the screen a la Diablo II
- no minimap
- Move UI elements closer to the screen edge. There’s too much padding around the minimap, the resource orbs and the skill bar
- Add a setting to scale UI elements, preferably independently from one another. Not one for each skill slot of course, but having separate sliders for the minimap, the skillbar and the chat window would be awesome. Being able to resize the chat window like an HTML <textarea> would be great too
- Add 1 additional slot to the skill bar
- Add an option to zoom out the camera more than the current maximum
- Display icons for previously found altars of Lilith to other characters on the same account aside from the one the altars were originally discovered with
- Don’t know how hard it would be to implement but, man, did I constantly feel the urge to navigate with WASD. I can’t quite put my finger on it - was it the camera angle, the fluidity of the animations, the freedom of traversal, the depths and heights of the terrain - something made me feel like I could press those keys to move around in all directions
Bugs:
- The option to skip dialogue is not working from time to time
- Not sure if this is a true bug but lore texts weren’t appearing stylized as ancient scrolls as they did during the alpha. Instead, they were displayed as plain white text on a black background and in a rather large font at that. As a result, the longer texts covered most of the screen. Those that were narrated did not go away even when the [X] button to stop the narration was pressed
- On a couple of occasions, my character was stuck in a rubber banding loop when switching zones or when getting in proximity to another player
Gripes:
- What happened to the druid werewolf build since the alpha? It’s utterly impotent! I don’t remember it being THAT overpowered.
The only class and only build I was looking forward to playing on June the 2nd is now an ordeal to level and gear up… - Modern, powerful GPUs continue to strain in dungeons with more complex geometry and volumetric lighting, during intense combat with multiple enemies => more skill effects as well as during some cinematics. We’re talking latest drivers, beastly cooling and OS so finely tuned that all resources are dedicated only to Diablo IV. Even so, cards ramp up beyond 76-80°C on a regular basis while playing at the lowest graphics settings. A serious optimization pass has to be done otherwise more chips will burn on launch day
