Picking an Ultimate: Wrath or Call?

Hi everyone. Lvl 55, Tier 3, softcore, always solo though I guess I’ll play alongside others in the future. Skills: Lunging Strike, Upheaval, Ground Stomp, Wrath of the Berserker, Leap, Death Blow. All with two upgrades (except Wrath, with just one). Key Passive: Walking Arsenal.

I’ve been ok with using Wrath so far, but I don’t really focus on Berserker beyond the skill itself and its two upgrades. Not using any items or other skills to improve upon it, right now. Though I guess I could change that. The Key Passive “Unconstrained” looks nice, although Walking Arsenal is great in that it’s always on while fighting.

I am considering “Call of the Ancients” instead, right now. Maybe I’m missing out? I don’t know. I am not finding any parts of the game too challenging, and I played Tier 2 from the start, but I did go through most of the campaign being around lvl 50, so I was “overleveled” for it.

Maybe I just haven’t played enough yet. I doubt it’s my “great skill” in gaming. I’m probably below average on that. Maybe I picked the right skills. Maybe not.

I have the chance to use this Legendary Aspect, whether equipping the gloves or extracting/imprinting it… It goes something like this: When doing Leap or Upheaval, 47% chance to summon one ancient that repeats my skill, if I have Call in my action bar.

Sounds pretty nifty, as Leap and Upheaval are something I use mostly on crowds. But I wonder just how effective the Ancients really are. And I’m not even sure how to do the math, to figure out what option would deliver more total damage.

Right now, my main attacks do this damage according to the stats: LI, 3306. U, 4166. DB, 7001.

And if I used Call, the stats: Korlic, 5008 and 1878. Talic, 3130. Madawc, 9390.

Aside from the basic damage boost I get from Wrath of the Berserker, I have a +65,6% to Ultimate Skill damage that I would assume applies to Wrath… Although I don’t know in which order.

Lastly, I do like and make good use of the other benefits from Wrath. Unstoppable, much faster movement, extra fury generation, and how it breaks enemy attacks and throws them back all around me.

Opinions? Thoughts? If you need to know any other info about my character, feel free to ask. Thanks everyone!

From what you are saying I understand you are a casual player so the best thing for you to do to decide is to use both and keep the one you are having the most fun.

I personally use wotb because it scales better with your gear/paragons but and I generally like to be me the Uber guy not my minions.

That’s just my taste though. Be brave to explore yours.

Thanks. Yes, I’m casual. And casual enough, to admit I’d have trouble figuring out for sure which one is more effective, if I tried them both. I mean, I pay attention to fun but I also wanna know that as objectively as possible.

I’m not into the whole minion thing myself either, BUT having more AOE attacks than Upheaval would be fun I think. I mean, I can’t count Leap and Ground Stomp as their radius small enough to be basically “area melee.”

What you’re saying is what I’m gonna do to some extent, eventually. But I wanted some extra advice, since I’m not that knowledgeable in how the system works.

  1. Correction: I only have one upgrade, for Wrath. Not two.
