Pit Tier 50+ is a waste of time

Maybe it’s just me, but I am really tired doing Pit after Tier 55, especially in groups. Monsters have way too much HP, it takes a lot of time to clear and reward is not that great. Very demoralizing. I don’t understand what kind of build you must have to clear this madness and I feel it’s dead end for me

as newer player i had to look up and follow a build guide. on top of that needed to watch some youtubes which explained masterworking and tempering gear.
at start got stuck in pit too but now i am just flying throught it as most other do too. (lvl70 pit is like 2 minutes)

it just takes a little time to inform yourself. after some experience you can surely make your own builds and leave pit lvl55 far in the rear mirror

I already made my own build. And can boost my attack with temporary battle buffs up to 500,000, maybe a bit more. There is nowhere where I can squeeze more power out of. Even if all my attacks are critical it’s not that amazing. I am really not interested in builds that are not my own. Maybe you misunderstood me, but I meant Tier 55

yeah i meant tier too. if you are doing your build all by yourself i imagine it is way harder. i just started playing and wouldnt even know where to begin.

thats said what boosted my cookie-cutter build was getting my glyphs maxed and all paragon points, the right tempers and especially the correct aspects.
as soon as i got some material from lower pits i masterworked every gear-slot to level 4 of 12. that alone boosted me a lot.

no worries

I already did all of that, but it doesn’t matter, monster HP pool is way too high, especially bosses

the biggest problem with build diversity (as in all arpg games) is that some skills just can not be scaled enough and cap out at one point.

so far in d4 i noticed the most played builds all use some form of double dipping and other obscure methods to overscale damage. its an old story, some bad performing skills then get buffed in another season and previous overpowered ones fall off.
at this point this is the nature of arpg’s.

its not nice but if you ever find motivation try one of the more popular builds which just cruise through pit tier 100 in like 4 minutes. with that build you can then farm really good gear/resources for your own build and revisit it.

have fun anyway

I was struggling very hard myself as well soon as I passed Tier 50 or so in the pit. Reason for this I guess was my playstyle and build, neglecting any and all advice on the web but just playing what I thought what was most fun. Despite being able to get masterworking to lvl 8 on all my gear I just fell that further progress was as good as impossible to achieve.
So I took an hour to search YouTube, looked at some videos and completely changed my build, paragonboard and gear( except for Melted heart of Selig amulet) and went back to the pit in order to start farming Obducite, Ingolith, and (finally) Neathiron. Although I had to adapt to a completely different playstyle that I was used to (and I hate changes), I soon noticed runs were getting much smoother and I am meanwhile able to do lvl 61+ being able to farm for Neathiron and upgrading my gear beyond lvl 8 masterworking. Although I still am of the opinion that one gets one-shotted too easy at the end bosses, at least I am able to make progress and upgrade my gear step by step, slowly being able to play higher and higher pitlevels. I have lvl 100’s in every class and I am presently only focussing on my necromancer but presume I will encounter the same problems (and solutions) the moment my necro is complete and I am switching to the next class.

Monsters have way too much hp? that simply means you lack the dmg output.
My sorcerer can run through trash part easily even past 60 pits but the boss is the problem. Every boss pit 61 and forward has insane shadow mechanics flying around on top of everything the boss throws out and every single piece of projectile is 1 hit KO… That makes no sense.

What is life, but a waste of time? We are all here to experience the world our own ways and then when the time comes leave this place. I personally plan to live this life exactly as I want to, not by how someone tells me to.
I enjoy “wasting” my time in Diablo 4 even though it has had a rough start, but overall it is one of my favorite games. (Though I do not play many games)

I think you are going way too off-topic. It’s clearly understood what is “a waste of time” in given context

Every build that have exploits or unintended interactions can do 61+ easily

A waste of time is a pit that takes more then 3 minutes

That means your build is trash and you not going to progress any further
Of course you can do whatever you want but prepare yourself to be stuck after all not every build is ENDGAME viable

Then this all loot update is bullshit, because it was about more diversity

You need to have specific pit build or either you stuck on low tier. Necro minion even not optimized easy can clean 75+tier that i am playing now. Even if monster one shot me i still able to clean pit easy . But beside materials pit rewards are garbage even on high tier’s

I take D4 endgame seriously when I get my proper Chain Lightning Unique item and finished Skill Tree, Aspects and other items. Not a moment before. Where is Lightning Hydra and Lightning Shield?

I think that’s part of the problem with the game. There is a lot of things to understand regarding builds that makes it a little difficult to get a good understanding of, especially when it’s so costly to switch.

This should be part of the organic process of the game for the player to discover - that deeper understanding of your character development should be one of the primary rewards for players but instead they are looking up builds online and just copy/paste without really thinking for themselves.

Bit sad to think that most people have just copied someone else with regards to choices that they themselves should be thinking about.

This is something I think Blizzard should look to change.

+70 you only get +29 neathiron and it is time you give us more rewards. It feels so much waste time to do pit because of LOW rewards and bosses issue!!! Time to look at it, devs!

lol one of my older replys to this post was removed… i might have said the s word or put too much truth into the reply … if only they b this fast at banning bots and rmt… and fixing game issues :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah well … going on topic yeh pit sucks… they give way less loot and less gold then nm’s tho they are harder and thouse one shot bs mechanics sucks… :stuck_out_tongue: doing lower lvl for lower lvl mat when you already can do higher lvl its silly too… higher lvl should also rewrd lower lvl mats…

This entire thread is mind blowing to me. You guys seem to think the Pit is where you go to get gear or something… For me, it’s to test my build while harvesting Neathiron to masterwork my gear. I farm tier 99 in about 3.5 minutes, so I harvest almost triple what you get in a level 50, in less time. Let’s talk about a waste of time… it’s coming here to complain about the pit when the true problem is your comprehension of how to play the game well. This is the proverbial “git gud” scenario.
