so iam 72 Necro with minions as prio with blood surge and corpse explosion secondary. i had a bone spear build earlier on and it wasnt fun.
Because my build isnt meta or super optimised General content Can be Hard, especially tier 21 nightmare dungeons witch is somwhat fine, however World Scailing does not stop and gear progression stops at 73.
What motivation do i have to keep playing the class and Build that i like Knowing that the more i play it the weaker im going to get…
please dont suggest just play a meta 3rd party chosen build… i used a none meta un optimised build work in diablo 3 why is it the opposite with diablo 4 even after the devs said all types of builds and play styles should work.
Wo What are my alternatives:
Play another class. But i dont like any other class’s i like necro
Re-spec befor i brick my char and get stuck in high level scaled content. iv tried other specs/ builds earlier on and it just want fun to play them. so the solution is play a build i dont enjoy?
then last copy paste a build from a 3rd party site, but again this would back at playing the class in an unfun way,
necro builds with minions is hard enough to sustain at higher levels, please cap scaling to 70-80, and give me a reason to finish my necro as right now if i play it more its just more and more punishing.
This is why I find the class design dumb so far, it lets you think you can mix and match abilities as you wish like in D3 but actually they go together in sets and if you stray from this you’ll suck. At that point it’s just WoW class specs in disguise, idk why they’re trying so hard to turn Diablo into WoW.
i made a 0 set build work in diablo 3 with the necro so doesn’t make sense as why i cant do it here. the issue is infinite scaling. Nightmare dungeons should be where the challenge comes in or even Tier 5 with no cap for the giga chads. But with no extra Gear tier.
its not even viable to drop world tier because losing out on ancestral drop is Massive

Shame, the game is too hard, boohoo. Love it. These kiddy button smashers who want everything for free are a thing of the past. So glad Blizzard is ejecting these button smashers who want to go to school and tell everyone how “leet” they are coz they smashed buttons and finished the game . boohoo. GG Blizzard, make the game even more difficult.
your a moron, a game that is “hard” doesnt make it a fun or good game when the “hard” difficulty comes from bad systems.
when only building your class from a pre tested meta build come from a 3rd party site is the only way to play, how do you not see the problem
Problem is, are you sure your build is good enough?
Like, sure i do agree with the sentiment that building something of your own, is indeed fun but that does not mean that whatever you build is gonna be good enough for the content.
honestly the build and gear is probably mid, work and stats could be found in the gear but the level scaling will far outpace and out scale how much stronger the build could get.
iv got all lilith statues 3-5 zones full renown, and i allways 5 star the gear, so outside of RNG drops iv done everything i can to optimize resources. tried to re-spec around bloodsurge and the necro felt WAAAaaay weaker, and if you dont prio minions you lose alot of control and resources along with the extra tick damage
not everybody a no lifer like you kid! time is precious for many people! imagine a man came from work and wants have some fun and plays d4, 30 min boss fight isnt fun! now get lost!
I guess another shot could be playing around with with some possible sinergies to try and see if there is more to squeeze in
Gear progression stops once you’ve got high quality (750+) ancestral gear in all your slots with the right affixes, but that gear quality is actually level 60. I got an 815 weapon at level 58 in WT4 with a lvl60 requirement, I’ve not seen anything higher since, I’ve had 815 a handful of times tho.
So luck depending the gear progression may not end in the early 70s, but it is roughly around that point you can probably expect to be full ancestral or close, you still have a hell of a lot of paragon and glyph progression to do, but I imagine power gains do start to drop off in the early 80s.
Monster scaling in WT3 should cap at 70, and in WT4 it should cap at 80-90, perhaps they should also add in a WT5 with static difficulty, but that’s a problem/solution for a later date.
There are two issues
-
Monsters scaling means eventually you get weaker relative to the monsters rather than stronger. But this isn’t true for nightmare dungeons or world bosses, because they have static non lvl scaling difficulty, they only scale with player numbers.
-
A massive amount of the gameplay mechanics on these monsters are unavoidable or nearly unavoidable high damage and CC. Unlike in Diablo 3 where in a GR you would be largely responsible for your own life most stuff was avoidable, in D4 they have made most stuff unavoidable or close enough that it doesn’t matter.
It’s to the point where you can use your evade, but you don’t get out because the game locks you into your previous attack animation before it does the evade, causing you to get hit. This is definitely not fun difficulty.

i can agree a relate to alot of what your saying here.
the “hard” content should come from Nightmare Dungeons. world boss’s. helltides etc etc.
then when you at Tier 4 high level stuff the amount of CC is unreal, so not only does my build need damage and Survivability but need to find CC, and CC mitigation (unstoppable), and compared to some other classes and “meta” type builds its just an issue with necro rn,
