Please close the "Open World"

There are some topics about it, but it cannot be stressed enough: Please make the MMO part optional. It is really annoying in so many ways.

  • Important NPCs surrounded bei other players.
  • Running through an empty area because someone has cleared it a second before.
  • Other players interrupting and ending a hard battle shortly before you succeed.
  • Having no chance to win a battle because it is designed for more players than are available at the moment.
  • Someone triggers and ends the event your are currently going to before you arrive.
  • You have to fight a quest-npc before you can talk to him because someone triggered the conversation already.
  • You cannot explore and clear an area because all the monsters spawn over and over again.
  • Because of the “cheater and real-money-sellers” fear you cannot trade the cool items with your friends like all the decades before.

Advantages of this system for the world of Diablo: 0.0

There are more than enough MMOs out there for people to play. For sure it will be a nice add-on for some players, but for at least the same amount of players it will be a massive fun-killer.

Please put the world events into a special area that is completely ignorable while playing single or coop or build in a config-switch to toggle between lite-MMO and leave-me-and-my-friends-alone mode.

Apart from this I really had fun playing the beta. Would be a sure-purchase without this…

Greetings

hi i want to say the game is very good this is the best game ever made thanks to the game makers for making the most amazing game i will wait for you to release the server if possible add more languages thanks for having you

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying.

However the point about another player talking to NPC before you, that would be a bug.
No one else can start/progress story or side quests, unless you’ve joined a party and then you’re playing their progress, if you are party lead then it’s your progress.

For instance, if you are invited to join a group, the world will be set to match where they are up to. Once you leave the party it’ll go back to your progress, so even if you just completed some quests with the other players, the same quests will be available for you.

‘ArseFace’ running around in the public realm cannot start your quests, it also seems like when you are running major story quests the public players are suddenly not around unless in a city/town.

You may have had a different experience, which is why it seems to be a bug.

Having no chance to win a battle, only had this a couple times way at the start while exploring. This is too early to be exploring though, I wasn’t equipped even decent (not even talking about legendaries).

I very rarely had much difficulty on World Tier II, was actually hoping for it to be a bit harder, in the form of a lot more enemies. There’s too much time travelling with no enemies, then find a group of maybe 10 weak skeletons who get destroyed in a couple seconds.

The unable to clear an area because enemies re-spawn, this is great IMO.

Other players interrupting and ending a hard battle, yeah this can suck, also as you mentioned an event ended before able to get to it…yep no fun there. The only fix for that would be to disable public players, which doesn’t seem likely as the whole game is built around that.

Let’s see what comes next.

Also think the speed of leveling is too quick.

Honestly, my biggest issue with it is how extremely laggy it seems to make everything. I can put up with a somewhat slower pace of the game. I can put up with loading screens (part of the package on PS4). But there’s no reason to feel like I’m trying to wade through molasses. There’s no reason to be running against an invisible wall because I simply cannot move into the actual map/zone. There’s no reason to look like I’m actually moving forward only for an invisible hand to grab me and yank me back halfway across the map to where I was half a minute ago. There’s no reason to force me to start a dungeon over because I get disconnected while teleporting back to town to empty my bag.

All these feel like network issues, and while a beta is a beta, if it is true that they wanted to and made it as much of a real world test as possible, then… this isn’t a good outlook for the final product. And despite everything, I haven’t seen anyone doing anything multiplayer, and I did spend more time ingame than outside during the open beta. That is to say, I saw nothing that would’ve convinced me the forced online/multiplayer is necessary. At best it slowed me down every time I went to Kyovasadh, at worst I was experiencing the abovementioned issues. Have it as an option? Sure. But forcing it always on, on everyone, whether they want it or not, when there isn’t anything innate to gain from it? That just sours the game experience.

I second that. Diablo should be a single player experience first and multiplayer dead last. The MMO element removes the dread effect of being alone trying to carve a way through demonic hordes.

The main reason I can see for online only would be to curb item hacks/duping…doesn’t guarantee it won’t happen though.

The other would be cosmetic microtransactions, ppl will be more likely to spend if they know others will see them, rather than just single player.

Most people, especially younger, simply don’t care that it’s online only, they are used to it with most of the other games. Not to mention trying to get mobile players to move over to D4.

Not sure these issues will be as persistent when all areas of the open world are available to players. People will have more freedom to choose their own paths.

Luckily there are plenty of private instances you can still enjoy solo or with friends.
