The current set up has given me migraines daily due to how bad it strains my eyes. Essentially you’re given the option of:
- Wandering blindly
- Moving your eyes up and to the right every few seconds, hundreds of times per hour to check the mini map (which makes itself obsolete every 1.5 seconds if travelling at full speed on the horse, or on a fast class like barb or rogue)
- Interrupting your gameplay entirely to press M and look at the map that way
In D3, you just pressed your overlay key and right in the center of the screen, where you were already looking, a transparent map appeared that you could quickly reference. This produced zero eyestrain and I could happily play Diablo 3 for 10 hours straight just fine even as recently as 1 month ago.
Diablo 4 on the other hand I can play for at most an hour before the tops of my eyes start feeling sore and if I play through it, I will literally vomit from nausea induced from eyestrain.
This game is good, I really like it - but I don’t want to get a migraine every day I do play it. I understand this issue won’t effect most people, but I’ve had sensitive eyes since the day I was born and simple changes like these are the difference between being able to play the game too, or being forced to go lay down in the dark lest you be sick.
Please give us back the overlay map again.
I’d also like to add that i think the minimap is far too zoomed in. Giving a rough estimate, the D4 minimap lets you see around 1.5-2 screens of space around you. The D3 minimap by comparison would let you see several screens away in every direction, meaning you had to look at this map less often, as it didn’t make itself immediately obsolete the second you used one movement skill, like a barbarian’s leap.
