PTR is Diablo 3 and it is BAD

this is ridiculous did you not learn from the flop Diablo 3 !? Torment is not fun, and segregating the server into elites and casuals is idiotic! , hated Diablo 3 oh you not on Torment XXX peasant ! we can not play with you… this will be exactly the same issue in D 4 , you will have the elites playing Torment XXXXX and the rest struggling to find gear on Torment 1. And we all know the drop rate on Torment 1 will be 0.0000001% of what it is on Torment XXX , and good luck doing world bosses on Torment 1 when all the elites have buggered off to Torment XXX. the stat squish is as tiresome as it has been for 20 god dam years in WOW,

and starting over even on Hard i got the same old feeling of bullet sponges making it hard to dash / avoid which was one of the all time frustrations i had with Diablo 3 wallers and some lasers oh and green goo underneath on top good luck playing melee! oh you got CCed to pieces tough!

so as in Diablo 3 the casuals are forced into staying at Expert or Hard for longer with NO as in ZERO chance of getting anything worthwhile, and if you buy an upgrade bag it is wow idiotic lvl gear progression where you get item level 2 -3 higher then you used before … gotta do that grind eh !??

and having a harder top tier now means it is even harder for casuals to reach! so far i can play with most elites . no i might not 1 shot the boss in helltide but i can play with them i can contribute now it will be oh there are only us casuals so now we gotta spend 3X the time to get less rewards , so it will just be a race to get into Torment as it was in Diablo 3. And hell i bet noone will even do the bosses on Torment XXX either seeing it is probably not worth it now good job!

at in everything is harder and you removed all the HP gems so now we are all gonna be forced into gimping ourselves with HP on gear or be glass cannons , i HATE playing a glass cannon! so far Diablo 4 seems to make it easier and easier to walk away, this feels like a bad combo of Lost Ark and Diablo 3 at the moment ! i am not impressed !

This. Sadly diablo 4 will become just an improved reskin of diablo 3.

SO you are saying that they are making this game a longer to progress and it’s harder?
if that is true
THANK GOD blizzard
i was getting bored with 1 week of gameplay where I SOLO all uber bosses on garbage geared druid
I hope they will make this game harder and longer cause season is 3 months long and most of us can complete all of that in a WEEK…

Let me put it this way:

If I could play Spiritborn, visit Kurast and play the continuation of story WITH Season 5 mech and numbers …

… I would pay 60$ for that. In a blink of an eye in fact! Just absolutely no preorders, sorry.

All these needless changes(except standardization and normalization, I guess) just scare the shit out of me. I am not excited, no. I am scared and sorta outraged. Not to mention how you segmented and divided the playerbase. Overall?

Great job scrubs!

If you want challenging and exhausting content… Just choose a build that isn’t meta. Everything from Season 5 will still be meta (though there will be less of it). Sorcerer got a nerf with the Rasha’s Ring (the buff lasts for 5 seconds and doesn’t renew when you use a skill, and you must have 3 different elements on your active bar to activate the buff, and enchantments no longer activate Rasha… Theoretically, Rasha makes sense if you have the new conjuration skill on your bar, but you lose points on skills + a slot for an aspect to make it work, so in place of 1 unique item, it takes up a slot for an aspect + points on the skill tree to work). Generally, don’t even start Season 6 with a Sorcerer… Not only is their skill, which gave them an advantage over others in speed and clear (Teleport), now available to every class with runes. Plus, a build that could handle torment + Tier 7 hordes in Season 5 (not a meta build, but it managed somehow) now only allows me to play on Torment 2… Whereas Rogues, Barbs, or Druids with level 60, even without 200+ paragon points, can already play on Torment 3 :)… I’m not sure how it is with Necromancer. I have no issue with it being difficult, because that’s actually great; my problem is with character balance and the lack of possibilities for combining or creating new builds. Instead of being able to create something new each season or improve/change what we’ve already played, we’re getting a downgrade every season with fewer and fewer playable builds. Clearly, someone on their team doesn’t know what they’re doing and should be removed from their position.

I’ve been playing Diablo IV through Game Pass. Launch flopped, and I kinda expected it, Season 2 was decent and Seasons 3 didn’t play it but from what I saw it wouldn’t be worth my time, Seasons 4 and 5 have been the best for me personally. Even though the game has improved, I still refuse to purchase it or give my money to Blizzard. The issue is that the game, which was marketed and sold as a brand-new experience at full price, is gradually turning into a rehashed version of Diablo III, Now keep in mind that there are players who pre-order it, bought it at launch, on a sale, whatever…
Blizzard seems to be subtly pushing players toward buying the upcoming expansion, and knowing their track record, this was likely a calculated move. It’s frustrating to witness, and it speaks to a broader problem: the state of the gaming industry and the role we, as consumers, play in it, although most people may not see the problem as it is or choose to ignore it…
If we want original, creative, and innovative games, we need to stop supporting monopolistic companies that thrive on hype, microtransactions, and recycled content. I genuinely feel for those who bought the game at full price, but it’s important to approach this critically. I’m not hating on the game itself I’m sharing a perspective that might not be popular, especially with fans, but it’s important to think beyond the surface.
Gaming isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about the choices we make and who we support. If more people resisted the pressure to buy into these business models, we might see a healthier, more innovative gaming industry. Right now, only a handful of games truly feel worth the time, money, and support. It’s time to be more critical of what we consume.
This is just my opinion, and I mean no disrespect to anyone who enjoys the game.

They say that D3 “team” was joining to D4 “team”, so we have D4 with D3 ideas in future (SpiritBorn = D3 Monk).

Agreed OP and everyone voicing their concerns. I wished I wouldn’t have played the PTR. Makes me want to not play Diablo games anymore. I was loving Season 5 and Vessel of Hatred just ruined it. I can’t even spend anymore time on season 5, knowing its all for naught.
I’ve been with Blizzard for Diablo since 2012. Was into guild wars before that and Battlefield games.
Maybe its time to take a break from this let down.

If someone played only Diablo 2, that person probably had to learn a lot about Diablo 4.

If someone played only Diablo 3, that person knows exactly how to play Diablo 4.

This game was like this from the beginning, starting from march 2023 beta. So stop saying it becomes Diablo 3, because it was Diablo 3 from the beginning already.

After 1,5 year of this game people still saying it becomes D3, like it was not already.

LOL

I have played D2 a long time and switched to D3 when it was launched. Played that for about 6 monhs but it wasn’t my cup of tea…so I stopped playing and returned to D2.
D4 from the beginning was not like D3, no way. In my opinion it was more like D2 with seasons where you needed to start all over again and an Eternal base without the seasons specifics. But as I read now D4 is turning into a D3 copy which I cannot verify as I didn’t play D3 long enough BUT if this is true and I believe the ones who says this, then I’m afraid D4 will no longer survive.
Without that though the changes made with S6 creates a complete other base for this game which is rediculous and looks like a completely restart of D4. This means also a completely restart of chars, items etc and makes all the effort obsolete and completely useless. What were the Blizz nitwiths thinking to redesign the game strategy instead of making the game more stable and balancing the chars.
The only ones exited with these changes are the 0,01% diehard players with no life and the streamers offcourse. The majority of (casual) players will just abandon the game if they need to start all over again…at least that’s what I will do. There’s also no reason to purchase the Expansion then.

I have played D3 about 9000 h and yes D4 comes more and more like D3, especially after season 6. But this not a miracle because D3 “Team” join them and was planning Season 6.
One thing I notice that streamers are quite quiet if I compare it to Season 5 PTR. It has much more videos and builds than Season 6 has. But I think we all are little subrised for this PTR. There is so much to eat and with bad taste.

I’ve seen it, and most people are talking about good changes for Barb and Rogue… Practically every PTR clip I see, whether on YouTube or TikTok, is about Barb or Rogue. Not only do most Rogues have a build like the Demon Hunter from Diablo 3 (with the spinning skill that sends out projectiles), but on top of that, Duriel dies in 3 seconds (he doesn’t even have a chance for the second stage of the fight, he dies so fast). Sorcerer… unfortunately looks weak compared to the rest.

So you played nothing. I played D3 for 10 years, thousands of hours and i am sure that you are wrong about D4.

There are seasons in D3. First season launched in 2014. It is 10 years of seasons…

And how D4 was similiar to D2? Dungeons with 100 tiers, only six skills on the bar, paragon levelling system, non-tradeable items with 4 stats locked, items locked to specific builds - it’s all D3. Wake up, you have been fooled with the illusion from Blizzard’s ads.

I agree—4 years in Diablo 3 and much more in Diablo 2. And yes, Diablo 4 is just a copy of Diablo 3. The introduction of runes in Season 6 doesn’t align with what was in Diablo 2. In Diablo 2, the runes and synergy of builds are much clearer and actually work. In Diablo 4, we don’t have that. Instead of synergy between the skill tree + paragon + class specialization, we have aspects and uniques. Aspects, which are required just to make a build work, force you to lose a slot on your gear, preventing you from using an uber unique or regular unique in that slot. This system resembles Diablo 3’s set system more: you have to have it, period, or the build doesn’t work. Uniques function similarly—some are so vital to a build that they can’t be replaced by anything, not even an uber or a regular legendary.

Just like in Diablo 3, you can change one stat on a weapon, but you can’t change the great affixes. You could drop a legendary with 3 great affixes, but the item has such bad affixes that it’s not even worth selling (and currently, dropping them in the PTR is a miracle). Diablo 4 is linear: you take a spell, max out % damage and % multiple damage, and the only configuration changes come from legendary items with the right aspect and unique (paragons for more % multiple and inc dmg). Your upgrade in those slots is simply getting the same item with the same affixes but in a great affix version (and add to that lucky tempering, because if you fail, the item goes in the trash).

And now, in Diablo 4, your item power is tied to the world tier, just like in Diablo 3. In Diablo 2, the drop rate increased with difficulty level (so if you are lucky you can drop the best item in game, at normal word). Diablo 4 doesn’t resemble Diablo 2 at all—if it did, Diablo 4 would be competing with PoE ( And in its current state on the PTR, it’s not even a competitor to Last Epoch). Instead, we have Diablo 3.5, not Diablo 4. Nothing will change because the foundation of Diablo 4 is the same as in Diablo 3. The concept of the game is similar. Not to mention that trading is restricted to uniques. Another issue is uber uniques, which are required for progression at the highest tiers of Torment. I think they optimize the game by simply increasing DPS numbers because, based on the PTR, it’s clear that the servers or game engine can’t handle the game in any other way. We’re already seeing a huge drop in game stability.

How can anyone think this is anything but D3 with more macabre “realistic” artwork? D2? lol, has nothing in common but the IP, genre and setting. You know, very broad things. Ok, classes too, but they play almost completely differently. Like a D3 version of D2 classes.

The most funny this is that “Diablo 3 team joining Diablo 4 team” was announced as a good thing lmao

F no

There is an expression: the wise learn from the mistakes of others, the smart from their own, and fools repeat them over and over again. Although I would say that fools are simply doomed to repeat them.

Some people like this , other people like that … So here is my opinion.

Diablo 4 is a real nice game , love to spend time in it , love to find gear , love to build my character. Tomorrow you ll get all paragon points and you don t need to build or wait , but hey … I don’t have gear to use it with my second character. I m not that die hard player that wants to one shot Duriel , but I like a game where I can explore and grow to level 100. Ones there , well euhm what to do ? Why to play ? For a sword that doesn’t do that much more? To complete a story I ve done 20 times? Well maybe for the seasonal progress , but … nope not doable enough , how to slay those level 200 boses … pff so I raid a dungeon 100 times but still can t do that boss, so no winning a seasonal badge.
Let us grow with our character , gaining paragon points as we go , finding gear that fits the moment and enjoy that seasonal story. Yes at that moment I do feel accomplished.
Maybe in a side note … there are some bugs , like the teleporting bug , that makes playing a lot less fun …
But still, thx for a very nice game, we forget somethimes how much effort is put into something like this and that should be underlined too! (and one can t do good for all … )

The game still lacks balance… My experience going from level 1 to 60. Currently, the game looks like this: a few minutes in WT2, then 2.5 hours in WT3 to move on to WT4, 5 minutes in WT4 to beat Pit 20 and jump to Torment 1, 30-50 minutes in Torment 1 to get to Torment 2, and about the same to move up to Torment 3. I spent the most time in Torment 3, and reaching level 60 took me around 6 hours of gameplay.

Being in Torment 1-4, I don’t see the point of so many magic and rare items dropping (it’s fine that they drop from killing mobs and I don’t have to pick them up, but there are still too many). But as rewards in NMD for completing them, it’s too much. Even in Torment 4, magic items appear as rewards for NMD completion, which makes no sense!

The game has become flat—everything drops everywhere. That could be fine if we had more endgame activities and could focus on what we like, but doing the same thing over and over again, like in every other season, is getting tiresome…

Another thing that stood out is the new system’s numbers. If you have an item with 650 power, you might get +100 HP or +10% damage. Dropping an item with 750 power triples that to +300 HP and +30% damage, etc. The jump is so huge that it feels weird.

And here’s another problem: between WT1-4, you’re dealing hundreds to a few thousand damage, and it’s fine. In Torment 1-3, that damage rises to 10k-100k (or more), but in Torment 4, the numbers go through the roof. It doesn’t make sense to me. It feels like in Diablo 3, jumping from difficulty 4 to difficulty 70 just by maxing paragons and getting the first 800p… I don’t think that’s fun.

For 80% of the levels, the DPS numbers feel low but still clear content. Then, suddenly, you jump into the deep end, and from 100k, it jumps to 1 billion, with 200 million DPS being the “average” required to do anything quickly.

And the worst part: I’ve played every class. Barb, Rogue, Necro—it all went smoothly, no problems with defense or DPS (which I felt was higher than intended, as everything fell apart like matchsticks, shadow necro is reallllyyyy op). Druid was similar, though I’ve played this class the least. It’s not my playstyle, and I lack the experience to build something solid for this class, but it has more than one solid build—I’d say more than one for every playstyle. However, Druid doesn’t appeal to me, but I’d still rank it high (and feel its easy to go with it same as other 3).

Sorcerer, on the other hand, lags so far behind that as a starting character, it might be the worst choice. There are builds that can pull 50 million DPS, but that’s not enough to solo bosses in Torment 4. Maintaining armor and HP at a good level is tough, it’s squishy, with only a barrier and dodge if we try hard (but good dodge cap is hard to manage), compared to other classes that have barriers + fortify…

On top of that, most other classes have Overpower mechanics. In Season 6, Sorcerer will be the worst DPS and will have the hardest time surviving. One-shots on this class are standard xD… I could write more, but I don’t know if it makes sense to.

Comon i dont even know meta builds are. Since S4… leveling ,early and mid game are sooo fast that you can watch TV and play almost one handed with any charcter. Once you get your hand on yellows, you enchant em and you are a god…
Game became so easy that it’s boring for me to play. I struggle to play S5, didnt preorder VOH because of that, will see if i play Diablo game…
