Question/rant about resource builder/spender system

Hi,

I wonder what people feel about the recourse building abilities in this game and if the issue I am having is shared across classes. I am mostly a solo player and I only did story with a friend. I only have a few hours every other day to give to diablo so I’m likely no where near where most people on this reddit are. I’m currently sitting at lvl 57 necro tier 3 trying to painfully farm out renowned (hate the idea of having to do this again in seasons but let’s see what happens).

I was running the meta leveling bone spear build after I spent my lvl 1 to 37 with 0 legendary drop or anything that affected my build and then I got 2 legendaries that shackled me to a blood lance build… which was terrible. I’ll blame it on the fact it was one of my making but surely they were aiming to get away from the “meta” and give us more freedom at the lower ends of difficulty and meta should only really be super present in pushing tier 60+ nightmare dungeons. What were the problems? I only cast my blood lance for about 5 to 6 seconds then I’d have to left click spam for 1 min with the shitty basic attacks to build up my essence. Ok we look up a guild and change to leveling bone spear… same thing for 5 seconds of good damage and fun ability you need to spend 1 min building it up. What makes it worse at times is that the damage is super conditional vs a boss that wasn’t near a wall… Ok look up the meta meta build which is bone spirit… well same issue really. Sure it one shots some elites and packs and sure my build is scuffed made out of aspects (the fact they give you totally dog stats feels a bit bad, like let me craft it 20 or 30 times for better rolls and have transformative legendaries that are non craftable… like why are all items just boring flat stat changes??), but if you are facing a boss and you don’t do good damage due to lack or crit or whatever, you are left auto attacking him for days for 1 second of fun.

I made a druid alt and did some solo leveling and omg the problem is even worse. There is no build I tried to make or one that I looked up that made the spirit gen not god awful. Sure the tornado build is okish but my lord man.

So my question is, are other classes better in the early game? Or better yet do all classes suffer this until you are fully geared up with 3 to 4 paragon pages that mitigate recourse generation. If so then the game isn’t in a fantastic state since early to mid feels off due to unfun builder spender system, a super restrictive “mid game” where you farm toward your actual build and lvl 75 that will allow your build to actually come online with the several flat stat buffs… I don’t know at this point I am hoping for a reaper of souls changes and some ability changes/addition/reworks since this feels “off”. Core combat is fun when it clicks but as it stands the grind that should feel satisfying and rewarding feels off with a combat system that is limited by paragon, specific gear to offset costs and secondary affixes.
