Refunded with a sad heart... here is my feedback

I am very sorry i had to refund, I am a huge ARPG fan have more than 5k hours in D2, more than 15k hours in D3, more than 15k hours in POE and played all other arpg on the market since 2000.
I played all classes, wizard i like the most, rogue is underwhelming, barb is strait trash imo
Killed world boss 2 times with wiz and rogue had full inv of legendries and reached lvl 25 first day

The good:

  • I love the cinematics
  • the environment is great, the gore, the blood, the darkness love it

The bad:

  • the skills and the skill customization is under D3 and D3 is not a very diverse game compared to POE, Last Epoch and other games. (maybe paragon will save D4)
  • just a bad port from a mobile/console game(hence the refund).
  • inventory and stash- what a joke please see Last Epoch, D3, POE, D2 resurrected inventory and stash
  • lots of quests, i don’t really care about the campaign except the first playthrough
  • itemization and legendries - so bland nothing exciting
  • no totem playstyle except maybe for hydra (maybe) i love totems
  • dungeons boring and hard to differentiate them

Maybe after i see the end game and full skill customization i will buy the game, but imo this game does not worth even 30E in this state

It’s not a game like PoE or last epoch, this is diablo series it’s literally arpg for semi casuals with half baked endgame for those who love torture. Personally I cannot imagine spending even 1k hrs in any of those games. I think skill trees are fine, I don’t want an excel spreadsheet in front of me to figure out my build, obviously choice of skills is more dependant on gear than other way around imo so while skill tree is simple, the added nuance of leg affixes makes it deeper.

It also seems to me like you would want the game to be tailored to your individual preferences, a lot of people will enjoy the story, a lot of people won’t even dream to have enough time to reach 200+hrs in the game, it’s not designed for people like you I think and I don’t think that will change at all. There was closed end game beta and everybody basically said it’s just equivalent of d3 rifts round and round

Yeah or Immortal was copied from D4, either way, I have this Immortal taste in my mouth when I play the beta. =)

I agree with the author. This game is like a slightly advanced diablo immortal for pc.
I don’t like why dungeons are static? despite the fact that in d2 they all had a random map.
Even diablo immortal was better in terms of skills and their variations and mechanic.
But the most annoying are the same dungeons that do not change their options as it was in D2

If you’ve played Diablo immortal then you’ll see that D4 is a slightly advanced Diablo immortal.

wanted to say the same, too many quests, story, walking from there to there… more than fighting actually.

Diablo games never got a deep skill tree. Blizzard always made streamlined games. Early D3 customization is just trash, replay it! Compare both early game. You have to wait a lot to get all runes and passives in D3. Need to see the paragons and the full specializations to judge, and itemization seams to play a big part since you can transfert legendaries effects.

I’ve always played D3 and an mmo. With D4 I get kind of two games in one. I also think this beta will go up a gear once we get the Necro and Druid.

Dungeons are not static in D4. They are also random generated in layouts.
You guys must really have played another D3 or DI, because D3 had far less variety in builds than D4.
I wont even bother to compare it to DI, because thinking D4 is just a better looking DI is so far from reality, that i suspect heavy trolling.

That is exactly the feeling i permanently have when i play this. Random map evens fixed spawn timers for bosses repetitive dungeons. The world looks great but the stuff they filled it with looks like copy paste work and alot of diablo immoral

Refunded … Ahahahah. You will re-buy it the same day it is being released…
Refunding a beta… What a joke.

I undestand you and share the more killing less quests. Nevertheless, I will not refound it. I think I will play it around 70-100 h, small number for the MMO it tries to be but enough hours to make it worth the price. Game is visual pretty and I like the combat.

cheers,

  • Who cares about cinematics.

  • Yep, nailed it.

  • Skill customization is good, you have the base skills + the paragon + the effects on the objects, allowing tons of customization.

  • A bad port with DLSS even in the beta? I’m getting stable 60FPS with everything at high ecept textures (only 8GB of VRAM) with my 4+ year old 2070 at 1440p with Quality DLSS, how is that a bad port?

  • Don’t see any problem with the stash. You can buy tabs to increase space, and it’s shared with all your characters.

  • How can it be bad having quests?

  • How can you expect any exciting item at lvl 25 with the only end game of the beta being the lvl 30 Fort?

  • Necro and druid also have AFK skills.

  • Don’t expect much variety within only a region of the game.

If you are an ARPG fan like you say… you wouldn’t miss DIV on day one.

Skill customization is trash. You only have a very limited option with the base skills, paragon isn’t going to replace skills so whatever you get in there will at most make the existing skills better or force you onto skills you didn’t choose before, much like items do already. Most people will build the exact same thing from guide XYZ and having just a very limited base to go and improve from means that the outcome will hardly be as diverse as you think.

A bad port isn’t decided by DLSS or no DLSS and it’s by no means a miracle tech to include either.
The game eats up ALL of my 16GB VRAM and that isn’t normal, i think the UI screams console port and as far as i am concerned, the game looks worse now than it did in the gameplay trailer from 3 years ago soooooo yeah… i’m certain stuff had to be downgraded for consoles again.

There aren’t optimized drivers for DIV yet, so don’t expect it to perform as expected.

Of course, people will do the math with the spreadsheets at some point and figure out what works better towards clearing more runs per hour, and the rest will just copy the receipt.

My problem isn’t there being one build that is better than all the others, that will always happen even with 10.000 different builds. It’s the fact that you will not have that many different builds because, taking the sorcerer as an example, there’s only so many fire, ice and lightning skills in the skill tree right now and everything else is just improvements on those skills. I would love to choose my skills and then add an attribute to it or have more completely different skills in general.
Even if it’s just reverting back to the options in D3, it would allow for a much wider variety on base skills and combinations where you can form your character skill set according to your playstyle.

people complained d3 didnt have enough story and quests. There you go.
