Request for Improved Camera Distance in Diablo 4 - Enhancing Gameplay Experience for Players

Dear Diablo 4 Development Team,

I hope this message finds you well. As a passionate player eagerly anticipating the release of Diablo 4, I wanted to express my sincere excitement for the game while also addressing a crucial aspect that has left me feeling frustrated: the camera distance.

Having played the game myself and thoroughly tested its mechanics, I am genuinely impressed with the immersive world and captivating gameplay that Diablo 4 offers. However, I must admit that the current camera distance has been a significant source of frustration for me, to the point where it has made me hesitant to pre-order the game.

During my gameplay experience, I found that the close camera perspective limited my field of view and hindered my ability to fully engage with the intense battles and encounters with formidable enemies. The lack of a wider camera perspective made it challenging to react swiftly, plan my strategies effectively, and fully appreciate the intricacies of combat.

I understand that development is an ongoing process, and I have reservations about whether the camera distance issue will be addressed and resolved before the game’s release. As an enthusiastic supporter of Diablo 4, I implore the development team to prioritize the improvement of the camera distance feature to ensure a more immersive and enjoyable gameplay experience for all players.

By offering players the option to adjust the camera distance or by implementing a default distance that provides a broader view, you would not only alleviate the frustrations of players like myself but also demonstrate your commitment to delivering a game that truly caters to the needs and desires of the player community.

I genuinely want to pre-order Diablo 4 and experience the epic journey it promises to offer, but I am concerned that the camera distance issue might hinder my enjoyment of the game. Therefore, I humbly request that the development team actively addresses and resolves this concern, instilling confidence in the community that Diablo 4 will provide an immersive and visually satisfying gaming experience.

Thank you for considering this request. I look forward to the release of Diablo 4 and remain hopeful that the camera distance issue will be acknowledged and resolved, allowing players like myself to fully embrace the epic battles and adventures that await us.

Sincerely,
Qenso …

No response, huh?

Got the same treatment when asked for an option to select the zoom level manually, so EACH player would choose their desired zoom level.

You know… just like in Diablo 2 Resurrected… A feature that is ALREADY implemented in a Diablo game…

Camera is fine as it is. Diablo needs to have an immersive experience not watching a movie, for the latter you can use netflix or other providers.

Diablo 3 player here, barbarian paragon 900 ancient immortal king bla bla, i agree with you 100% i can’t play they refuse to refund, let’s hope wisdom come to them, I’m having motion sickness,

Certain areas the camera seems to zoom in more than others…and when you fight the world boss the camera is good but a little too far out…so yeah, I wish we could have 5 choices.
Too close, close, medium, pretty far (my own choice) and worldboss distance.

Nope. Camera is too CLOSE.

things to change which we all drastically need:

  • better camera zoom out

  • more interesting skills and at least 8 skills slots (6 is joke with 7 tiers - you even can’t have 1 skill from each tiers - ridiculous). make 3 or 4 trees because idea that all skills are in 1 tree is illegible. allow us put more than 5 points and make more skillers items like in Diablo 2. remove all cooldowns longer than 5 seconds. if skill is too strong just nerf it

  • better items stats - now it’s boring, items are hard to compare. please remove this stupid idea that skills damage depends on weapon damage. it’s biggest joke in this game if you play as caster. Skills damage should depends on your build, not items. Also remove these not interesting stats like +1,4% something. Do + 10-50% and breakpoints from Diablo 2

  • allow create new character which is not connected to other characters - has own gold and stash (for people who want to share account with family)

This zoom is nauseating. Would rather prefer third person Elden Ring or over the shoulder view of Dead Space if immersion is so incredibly important to the devs. At least id see where im going.
Right now the camera is fine only when you are walking down the stairs but other than that its a very unique headache.

It would have been so simple (for us players) if only the game would allow a proper zoom in - zoom out function, like the one in D2 Resurrected. Fine tune it while holding a single key and scrolling in/out.

Me, personally, I want it even more closer (~10-20% closer) to the character.

Just let the player decide the zoom distance of the camera, c’mon!

came to the forum this time to adress the camera issue and found this post.
totally agree with Qenso.

the zoom level hinges on giving anxiety. it does not need much more. the zoomlevel you get, when you are mounted is fine for me.
and this zoom level would probably also adress/fix the complaints about off-screen attacks from mobs.

at least for me how the camara zoom is now, it does not provide anything beneficial for me. it only provides a lack of situal awareness in an action-RPG. there is supposed a lot of stuff happening, but narrowing the players field of view just creates a bad feeling.
a wider field of view just provides a better player experiance.

the following short clip kinda sums it up: Field of view - YouTube

Camera distance is far from okay as it is. Random stuff that is almost invisible kills You. Monsters can target You far from beyond screen, add to this issues with elemental resistances and almost the same looking ground effects. Its hard to feel immerse while playing diablo with all these issues, its an arpg hack n slash game btw
