I would argue that would be a HELL of an addition to D4.
We could trade runes with eachother… a Rune drop could be something that excites you for the first time in D4 history over seeing meaningless dropps over and over again.
This would create an ingame currency where we wouldnt have to use other sites or discord to sell items to other players for gold.
O Tempest Roar N Pul rune.
You guys could add 50 new runewords ontop of bringing back old classics… ad a freakin lore to it too or whatever.
It would likely mess up alot of builds etc but heck the builds are unbalanced between the classes anyway.
You could scrap the tempering system with the addition of this.

Get pissed off seeing D2R with same graphics as D4 but with better itemization system.
They brought D2 items anyway… why not bring the runewords too?
Never going to happen. Itemization and gring is what made D2 the king. D3 and D4 will never have that same magic. They can’t do what D2 did. Or they could but are lazy.
Instead they go for systems and RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG crafting. And there is grind yes but also “grinding prerequisites” which is what players hate. Playing the game should be the grind. And cool Items.
Try Sacred 2 Gold. It will make you 20 times happier than this tired old franchise leftover of clownage.
