I was really disappointed when I found that all the boss fights have the same artificial concept - long health bar, some pointy bits at various intervals where they drop health pots.
As if every tough mob in a game world would be so kind as to do that exact same thing. It’s utter nonsense.
And the way they go through phases using a set of skills at each phase in the same way every time you fight them… God that’s so boring. In D2 the bosses had a set of skills, but they used them quite randomly and you could have a different fight each time - for example, a summoner necro might keep Baal from moving with clay golem and decrep, but sometimes he’d escape and start killing your skellies. Meph would sometimes drop a blizzard behind a screen and kill the char you’re rushing or throw an ice bolt out randomly, using different skills in each fight.
It was much more fun, more realistic and it kept you on your toes. This D4 version is really weak - it feels like a scripted WoW style boss fight - and there’s a reason I quit WoW.
