Greetings, I hope this can turn into an unofficial collection thread on all feedback about The voice acting in Diablo IV and only that. Here are a few things to get you started

  • What did you think about the voices chosen for the characters in the game? Did anyone stand out?

  • What were your thoughts on the regional accent variation?

  • Did you recognise any voice actors from previous Blizzard titles?

  • Do you have a favourite line yet?

These are just points of inspiration to guide, feel free to create your own categories about the topic :grinning:

Here’s my feedback

This is part III: :woman_singer:t3: The voice acting in Diablo IV + Diablo voice actors (VA)

The voice acting is the best it has ever been for a Diablo game. There is so much effort and personality put into each and every line, no matter if it a random NPC or the main characters. The VA of Lilith is mind-blowingly balanced in feelings and a distinct whisper of alure. From my experience as an amateur actor I know how hard that is to maintain. The speed of her speech is perfect for an antagonist as it emphasises their sense of how superior they feel. The clarity of the voiced recordings are very high quality. Much better than those of Diablo III and Diablo II. (You should try to go back to Diablo III and hear the difference, when you can!)

As with all things Diablo IV, I think this iteration of the game sets a new bar for quality.
The mere fact that any NPC in the world has a voice is such a huge plus for the world. Even World of Warcraft does not have this. The Elder Scrolls has something, but you can clearly hear that it is the same VA being reused all too often. This was rarely the case for Diablo IV except a few rare exceptions.

I smiled when I recognized the VA for Diablo III’s Demon Hunter, which had been assigned to an NPC in Kyovashad, as well as the VA for Haedrig the Blacksmith, for an NPC in need, east of Kyovashad

I took notice of how much effort was put into keeping the characters grounded in a region with accent. I really enjoyed this attention to detail and I do not remember encountering a single character with an accent that did not match their character.

I look forward to hearing a varied accents from all the other regions in the game. My only pet-peeve is that otherworldly characters often sighs even though they have no need to breathe, like the nephalem has in their current weakened state.
