Sadly, there is neither a chance to buy single items in the shop nor are the shop cosmetics different from what you get ingame. - You must be able to see a difference from max. zoomed-out state.
So there’s literally 0 reasons for me to spend money in the shop right now. The only thing I would be interested in is the Barbarian Tattoo and Breastplate of the Arreat Set. But I definitely wouldn’t spent 20€ for a pack of 8 which I’m only using 2 of …
Few ideas to improve:
- Give us the option to buy single skins instead of Packs only.
- Drop the event-like randomization of available cosmetic sets. There is no need of creating a artificial scarcity without any reason in a digital game.
- Make the skins worth buying: Give them a visible look / glow that you won’t get within the normal game drops and that looks different at max zoom distance.
Conclusion: Give me a reason to spend money and I’ll happily do so.
Currently, no lessons learned from PoE regarding the shop, unfortunately.

The tattoos seem pointless, you’re covered in armor…

GW2 has some of the best looking outfits in any of the online games, combined with some good looking backpack xmog like wings or cool looking capes…
Just look at Lunatic Outfit, Grenth’s Regalia , Infused Samurai , Venombite , Witch’s Outfit , Hexed Outfit , Forged Outfit … Draconic Wings Backpack , Dark Matter Cape , Nightspeaker Wings, Vermilion Wings and so on…
On top of that,the most expensive GW2 outfit was 15 euros and even then that was one in 30 cases. They are 10 euros usually and guess what?Arena Net didnt go broke.They are teasing their new expansion already…
- They are adding storyline every 3 months as well as new maps,events,mini raids all that for free,not as $$ DLC (that is if you are online when release happens,otherwise if you miss it,it costs 400 gems which is 5 euros)
Blizzard indeed has missed massive opportunity when comes to cosmetics and missed the pricing of current crap in the store by miles…
