Skeletons dying like flies & targeting corpses

I have chosen all talents possible so far that would increase HP and damage reduction on my minions.

Yet they keep dying like flies on the easiest difficulty level. Something is not right here…

And, its also quite annoying having to target corpses on the ground EXACTLY. In the chaos that a diablo game is, you should not need to target a corpse EXACTLY. It should be enough that a corpse is somewhere nearby your mouse.
You really dont have the time to check the ground all the time… there is usually too much other stuff going on.

EDIT:
This really needs to be hotfixed…

There are multiple occasions where I have to just spam Raise Skeleton because they are dying faster than I can use the ability.

Then I end up with no corpses left and well… thats fun (not).

Necromancer minions are weak and pathetic. After 10 h of playing, and reaching 42 lvl i cant do any dungeon bosses. Minions dying from one aoe, and there is no corps. Duck me, ill never again buy any preorder from blizzard, period.

im lvl26 and with all available damage mitigation points invested in skeles they still die very easily to bosses

ive only just scraped through some fights and i havent even focused on the story yet

im on tier 2 and whilst i expect it to be a tad more difficult than tier 1, the difficulty im faced with is akin to torment difficulties in diablo 3

i dont think the balancing is right for any class, but necro is especially fubared without skeletons

Are you guys not getting any defensive gear for your necromancer, and ignoring the golem?

I can understand noticing how fragile skeletons are, but two people in this thread say they’re struggling on World Tier 1. I’ve gone from leve 1 to 50 on World Tier 2, and never run into this kind of roadblock.

Its not always a problem. But on most bosses they die instantly.
And on elites with AOE on the ground, you can spam Raise Skeleton and they die the instant you pushed the key.

Blizzard needs to fix this. We cannot control where the minions go.

If they’re dying instantly on World Tier 1, you must be missing something. Defensive stats, no golem - something.

They’re not meant to be the primary fighting force they were in D3.

I’ve had similar issues. I got to lvl 31 and had to switch tiers, as everything was destroying my skellys and mages, on a few occasions I was left without a golem. As for defensive gear, my last 10 levels I’ve had nothing drop that is usable, I had a amulet with minion attack speed by 4.0. I’ve got the Golem and mage life buff, but I still get ruined. Since turning down I’ve not had trouble so far.

Im playing on t2 lvl 30ish, minions are very different from past rides on t2 stress tests… Not counting how many times bosses&co seems completely ignore my golem&skel, that seems they wont aggro at all… where I end running for life from bosses that only point at me with my minions that run after them that run after me… But my main issue atm is that I feel alot of delay between skills pressure and skills trigg ingame… I mean not talking bout timed skills but insta skills… even summoning skeletons or explode corpses Im experiencing a lot of delay between each like way mooore even than 1sec each trigg and plus dying like flies + sometimes seems wont aggro at all… you know how’s going to end… and wasnt like this on stresstests at all… and here nothing changed.

I can keep Alive mi skeletons VS bosses whit eny problem.
I finish camping solo whit mm build whit Blood.
If you wanna kniw more tell me😉

I’m still curious if those struggling are synergistic the stats on their equipment, and maintaining buffs on their skeletons. Minion Life isn’t something you can ignore on your items - I’ve seen a lot of Necromancers just slap random grar on and expect it to serve them the entire game.

I’ve been using a minion build since early launch. I mean FULL minion build, no basic or core abilities on my bar at all, and it’s perfectly fine. It’s a lil slower than other classes given minion travel time but i’m in next to no danger of being hit.

  1. It’s impossible for your minions to be one shot using the talent Death’s defence. it would take a minimum of 4 hits for them to die.

  2. Using talent Bonded in Essence @Rank 3 heals your minions 60% every 5 seconds. Assuming skeletons aren’t being hit 4 times in 5 seconds they can’t die and u heal them to full.

  3. Using talent Transfusion heals Minions 45% of the blood orb value.

  4. Minions stats are based on your own. If you have shit defences so do your minions. If you stand in front of a boss and die very quick, why think your minions wont? – Get Gear!

  5. If your a minion build, u need corpses. Use Reapers to generate.

Using the following apects also help -
Aspect of Frenzied Dead - 20% atk speed
Aspect of Hardened Bones - Minion dmg reduction (important!)
Aspect of Reanimation - Minion dmg
Aspect of Shielding Storm - More Skeles
Viscous Aspect - More Mages

I am using skills on bar - Raise Minion, Golem, Corpse explosion (blighted), Bonestorm, Iron Maiden & Decrepify. No actual attack skills and am farming t3 atm for gear more than comfortably.

Minion build is fine you just need to work on it and not expect uber powerful minions at lvl 30 :stuck_out_tongue:

I assure you, I have seen my minions melt in multiple scenarios.

I have skills and paragons specifically set to minion survivability.

I am currently lvl 65, trying out World Tier 4. There is so much going on at the screen that you cannot stand still for 1 second. Ontop of this, my minions are dead most of the time. I dont have time for that. Its stupid that they just die over and over.

lvl42 now, and my goto strategy for all bosses is to run around like an idiot and spam summon when they start dying
it does get the job done but its kinda dumb tbh

i might try a different type of skeleton. so far ive only rocked skirmishers, cold mages and bone golem

When has blizzard ever stated that?
In both D2 and D3 they could be the primary fighting force.

I must admit, Corpse Explosion was kinda OP in D2.
But alot of the time the corpses did much of the fighting.

Im not expecting a minion build to do as much DPS as other classes or builds, but I would hope that they could buff their survivability.

I have gone for all minions survivability and dmg talents. Maxed out golem. Yet minions still die alot to certain enemies. And sometimes you are left alone with no corpses, no way to resummon them after ulti is used.

And yes, I am combining the minions with other dmg like blight or bone spear.

You keep saying you’ve “maxed out” minion survivability, but have still given zero indication of what gear you have, and what specific stats are on your items.

Minion life bonus: 100%
Warrior life bonus: 45%
Mage bonus: 65%
Mage resist all: 28%
Warrior armor: 10%
Minion Damage reduction: 20%

Melting like crazy on T4, especially on fire elites.

You’re level 65 in World Tier 4. T4 is 70+ with optimises builds, not something you drop into when you’re under leveled for it.

Death’s defence is bugged currently, if you upgrade it on max level it stop working.
Bonded in Essence also is bugged, not work each time when you use it.

Imagine this:
I’m actually level 54, with all bis legendaries for my build (Shadow DoT without minions), I facetank everything, I do a lot of damage…but the corpses explosions prevent me from seeing anything on the ground (my spells, enemies spells, any affixes and…my character).

So imagine that I can’t play a loved class.
Trust me, there’s worse than pets that suck.
