Skill trees feedback

I think the skill tree’s are very weak and huge lack of choice.

I think it would be much better if what we are seeing is 1 of 3 Pages/Types
For Example:

The tree you see now for sorceress would be ONE ELEMENT.
All your selections on that tree would be for FIRE SKILLS progressing down the tree unlocking all sorts of different FIRE skills only.

The other 2 trees would be Cold And Lightning obviously, Much more like the D2 Tree.
They could even Link up near the middle/End to pick some different elemental skills or something.

Then perhaps you could actually make some interesting Legendarys/Uniques like

(Your Hydra now does X thing and Deals Cold Damage)

It really feels like there is a huge lack of choice and character identity when you pretty much choose 1 of each skill.

Calling it a Tree is very generous. Its a skill Branch that was made from D3’s skill system.

Yeah i know, its a skill’s twig, so bad, so lazy,

Yes, skill twigs are dissapointing( you choose only one out of two options for your skills and sometimes both are boring( So basically all that has impact on your skill is weapon damage and some legendary affixes. Too bad, would be nice if skill tree allowed us to customize skill AoE, number of projectiles, speed etc, but we have straight 10% dmg buff per point up to 4 points and that is it…

Nope, nonono. The big avantage of actual system is that it’s easy to mix and you can skip some nodes and keep putting point in previous area and still get to the end of the line. If you want a big skill tree, you have the paragon boards for end game.

The actual skill tree is prety much old D2 skills trees all in one.

I haven’t played barb yet, but I have a 22 rogue and a 25 sorc;

The rogue skill tree is shockingly bad compared to the sorcerer. Way more fun abilities for actual combat situations on sorcerer skill tree, the passives are also better in most cases.

Also the items themselves seem better for sorcerer, I’ve found legendary items for sorcerer that are actually useful, almost every legendary I’ve found for Rogue has been trash (probably because the class doesn’t have any actual decent skills).

Going to try barb out today, but from what I’ve seen barb is the worst of the 3.

The skill twig is pretty lackluster to say the least.

For reference here’s an example of the limited choices available in D4 currently, bare in mind its level 25, without access to Uniques and the Paragon board which could possibly allow more build options.

D4 - Barbarian Flay - 3 Talents, only able to pick 2.
LE - Void Knight Rive - 29 Talents, can pick as many as you want.

PoE - No Class restriction, using the Cleave skill gem with 5 support gems. 21 support gems with “Melee” tag, can mix and match to your build or play style.

The big question is will the D4 Paragon board provide the same level of build choice as the passive tree does in LE or PoE. What we need is for Blizzard to release information about end game and what a build can really do.

Oh and most importantly turn off the level scaling!

Well no, The paragon board is not a bonus skill tree, It does not grant you any new abilities for the hotbar sadly, atleast from what i know.

This is why i said the skill tree’s could link up around the middle so you could still use Ultimates from another tree etc, Skipping certain nodes etc would still be the case with a bigger skill tree.

My issue is, there is only really 1-2 different frost, fire, lightning skills you can use.

For barbarian its even more basic and less choice.

Again Paragon boards are not a skill tree.

Which is extremely boring and way too simple, even my girlfriend that is has never played an ARPG before and only plays overwatch said the skill tree is boring and not enough fire spells to choose from.

Have fun bro barb is my favourite, and its hard to feel the barbarian fully in this beta as Weapon Expertise Quest cannot be completed…huge mistake…Because…

The arsenal System, where you choose which weapons you want to use for specific skills, Is completely useless without the Expertise system that grants bonuses depending on which weapon you use lol.

But still enjoy the barbarian myself even though its weaker in this beta test.

Yeah i cant stand it, feels like the same mid difficulty everywhere you go, every boss you fight (Excluding Story)

I really hope they make atleast some of the other zones OR Dungeons have reccomended set levels and not scale, that would be great.

biggest problem level scaling has, is every time you level you immediately feel weaker to the things you were just killing (even more felt when no new skill gained and just an extra 5-10 damage for a skill gained, lol weak).
The exact opposite effect leveling up should make you feel.

Skill tree is less than 50% of the build, you have to add the objects and the paragon boards wich will change the way your class plays in many ways.

What you see on the skill tree is just the start, skills can change completely and become utterly OP by just using the correct equipment and search for the proper synergies.

I wish i had the evidence to support your claim. Seen almost nothing of paragon board, other than it will give stats or damage bonus.

I want your confidence, but blizz has dropped so many balls i dunno what to say anymore

I can clearly remeber a dev stating to the effect “we want to make leveling the skills feel good, since simply a small damge increase per point feels bad an is lazy” and what do we have? a single point is very minor increase to damage… yawn

Yeah obviously, I want more choices in skills is my point, not just

Heres your fire build, pick 1 fire skill from each cluster lol.

And you can take off all your armor and clear a dungeon on any character world tier 2 lvl 25 lol.

please link your cleave end game farming/boss killing vids/pob as a viable alternative.

More skills, more complex skill tree. What the sorc miss, it’s an ability to change the element of each skill, like in D3. I suspect we will have aspect for that, but it should have been a class customization feature, like barbarian that can switch weapon for his skill, be able to switch skill element and get a new variant of the skill.

imho lets wait till we see the paragon boards before we judge, but i do agree they seem a little small

I think the main issue is only having 6 skill slots available. Builds would be far more interesting with 7 or 8.

Having played LE before D4 beta, the skill tree felt poorly done and uninspired. I doubt it will get better when the game comes out.

You can view the paragon boards right now on google and make an opinion i believe.

and this is why you dont make video games, thankfully.

So you think having more options for more “cool skills” is a bad thing?
Ok dude, keep thinking that and watch how excited people get when they expand the skill twig in future.
