SOLUTIONS - to fix the Pit bosses

Hello all.

Since the launch of Season 5, The Pit has suffered a lot of chances, respectively, the Shadow boss which give increased damage debuffs.
I am aware of the fact that the forum is full of complaints about it and even myself don’t like this change because at 3 stacks of debuff you get one-shotted.

So, in order to try and balance things, I suggest the following solutions :

1 - INCREASE THE SPAWN TIME OF THE SHADOW BOSS (SO HE WON’T APPEAR SO OFTEN)

  • in the current state of the game, the Shadow spawns very often and although you play it perfectly, most of the time you get hit randomly and die at 3 stacks before you can kill the boss - so, if you simply increase his spawn time of the Shadow boss, then you could have enough time to focus on finishing the Pit boss

OR

2 - LOWER THE HP OF THE PIT BOSSES

  • because since the Shadow boss spawn very often, most of the time you must be focused on escaping and not getting hit ; so, decreasing the HP of the bosses could help you kill him faster

EDIT / UPDATE: and one more thing, Blizzard said that they decreased the HP of the bosses in Season 5 but in reality, they seem to have even more HP than before. Many other players noticed this issue because you can get to the boss in 3-4 minutes while clearing the minions (just like before) but now, the boss usually takes 8-10 minutes from which half the time is just avoiding the Shadow boss (if you are lucky) - this issue was not a problem before but it is now.

In my humble opinion, the Pit needs a rework, as presented in this post.

Pit Bosses are a complete unplayable nightmare.

Anyone with even a shred of intelligence can’t help but recognize this fact. Some bosses are vaguely doable (though extremely tedious and exhausting), while others are pure torture (I’m thinking, for example, of the Blood Bishop).
The only possible strategy is to run in circles for ten-fifteen minutes, praying not to make even the slightest mistake or get distracted. Otherwise, you get one-shotted.
Whoever designed a system like this is either a sick sadist or someone who has never played Diablo even once in their life!

They need to stop rebalancing the game for every season. Im not talking about class balance here, im talking about enemy health and damage, various drop rates of items and materials ect ect. Last season it was perfect (after the pit boss nerf) But this season pit bosses are broken again, boss material drop rates are garbage, and uber uniques are nowhere to be seen, in spite of them allegedly dropping from more scources now. It honestly feels like the two alternating season dev teams have zero communication and work on entirely different builds of the game.

The poor loot combined with the difficulty of the bosses is, in my opinion, another big problem. What’s the point of spending 10-15 minutes on a fight that you often can’t even finish, only to receive worthless loot? It’s ridiculous. I’m increasingly inclined to think that this increase in boss strength is a bug, probably an oversight during patch development. I can’t believe someone intentionally designed it this way. They should have 1/3 of the Hp they actually have, or at least stop doing those shit one shot moves.

To be honest, I thought the same thing, especially after reading Blizzard’s post where they mentioned the fact that the boss HP was lowered. Maybe in theory this is what they wanted to do but now, in reality, I am inclined to think that the current state and HP really is a bug and the bosses should have like 1/3 of the current HP. Seriously, hammering the boss for 10 minutes straight while running in circles and trying not to die is just sadistic.

I think the bosses in Pit are bugged I run through the 99 with ease but I have noticed that sometimes the bosses are impossible to kill and take no dmg at the same lvl. Same type of boss that I killed before… it didn’t even make any sense only that there are bugged bosses in some runs.

But if it stays the same  you gonna one shot everything…
i already have 20 sec UBER boss SOLO kills?
I did Put 83 in like 2 minutes max and killed boss in few seconds also
So if they didn’t increase HP and all that you gonna one shot all stuff in the game
I would say increase the diff even more
Where is the fun when you can farm uber duriel without little bit of OMG almost got me
or andariel or whatever uber boss
I hate this diff they did for D4

i have stopped playing the pit because of the ridiculous one shot mechanic. The pit is not meant to be a tormented uber duriel extreme end game mechanic. This is just a means to get masterworking materials. Please fix this as us casuals can now no longer masterwork due to lack of materials. Its not rocket science a LOT of people have complained about this now. Its actually easier to run t5/t6 hoard runs than the pit for materials how crazy is that?

You are aware that season 5 infernal horde has everything you need plus more?
And easier todo?
Pits are soooooo last season!

Move on.

Ok, no offence to anyone but the Shadow boss needs a serios increase on the spawn time so he won’t appear so often.

I am aware that ranged classes have it easier but as a melee class (I play Barbarian) it is almost impossible to kill the Pit boss within 10 minutes, especially when the Shadow boss spawns almost every time I hit the boss.

When I finally get a free window or the boss is staggered - I pop all my cooldowns and abilities but in a matter of seconds I need to run from the Shadow, or else I get myself with 3 stacks of debuff followed by a one-shot in no time - and this boring routine must be followed for 10 minutes staight without getting hit, or else it’s bye bye.

P.S.: to those who say - just farm Infernal Hordes level 7-8… I want you to know that not everybody can complete those levels and in order to get Neathiron, The Pit is the only way.

Seriously, this isn’t even funny.

I was not able todo this either with my homebuild, I could just about clear a pit lvl 80 ;/
I had to resort to a copy/paste build from Mobalytics, I recommend you check there. There are specific “pit builds
Yes its lame blizzard/microsoft has left us normal gamers out the loop with their totally stupid paragon board with all kinds of bait in it, but I have been playing Diablo series since start and its has taught me to never rely on what I cook up, if you wanna progress copy/paste is the way.
sadly

Thank you for the info, I will check it out.

And yes, let’s hope that Blizzard won’t let us down with all the current problems that the game has.

its honestly not fun at all. shadow clones come up every 5 sec so im running the whole time. the bosses at 140+ take 12 minutes to kill when you do billions of damage a sec. this was a huge let down and cant believe they slapped us in the face like this

it does have everyone but the feel of a greater rift that we liked in d3

Exactly! The time spawn of the Shadow boss is the real problem in The Pit. If they would just increase it then things would be better and you would actually have time to damage the boss instead of running around for 10 minutes while trying to avoid debuffs.

Also, the Shadow bosses need to be more visible when they appear because most of the time you can not even notice when they spawn and in a split of the second you can get 2 or 3 stacks of debuff out of nothing. Many times it is usually too late when you notice the Shadow because beside him, you have a lot of attacks flying all around, earthquakes, etc. - and you end up with with debuffs no matter what you do + random attacks which hit you randomly. The minimap doesn’t help either because when the Shadow becomes visible it is usually too late and also, you must be focused on the animation to see their next move. Maybe increase their colour brightness or make them bigger, there are a lot of solutions.

All in all, Shadow bosses need a reword :

1 - increase the Shadow boss spawn time - don’t let them spawn every 5 seconds because you can’t damage them if you just run around for 10 minutes

2 - make the Shadow boss more visible when they spawn

Have they addressed this at all for the current season? I just started hitting the point I need material for masterworking and this is just stupid. About to end my run for the season at this point because its not fun having to dodge this debuff for 5 mins to get a chance to damage the boss for 5 secs in between. Smack the adds for 2 mins and spend more then twice the time sweaty palming dodging this debuff. Anything is better then this.

This is the exact problem - this issue was not addressed at all, they just mentioned about the The Pit levels but nothing regarding the boss fight mechanism.

So, this is the reason why I brought this subject up because I guess that they won’t change the Shadow boss (or at least it’s the spawn time) - while this is the real problem with The Pit.

Leveling glyphs up to level 100 is going to be done exclusively in The Pit - so, I really hope that they will change the Shadow boss because in the current state, he appears every 5-10 seconds which leads to a 10 minutes boss fight with chances to get random debuffs and one-shot… just is just sadistic.
