I love the lightning fantasy for characters. Shaman in WoW, Sorc in D2, Wizz in D3, Lightning Storm Druid in D4. I almost like the Sorc fantasy in D4 if not for one stupid behaviour.
CHAIN LIGHTNING. The “projectile” moves too slow. Jumps are erratic and unpredictable.
Suggestion: Make it jump to the nearest target (with preference of new targets for each jump) and behave like a lightning, which means instant travel time an no projectile. As for how the animation should behave, take a look at WoW. 20 year old game does a better job at Chain Lightning than D4.
1 Legendary Aspect and 1 Unique to compliment these changes.
Legendary: Chain Lightning can chain on only one target. No longer chains on the player. (number of ticks = number of maximum possible chains)
Unique: Chain Lightning now Forks instead of Chain. Number of targets struck is the same as number of chains.
Both of these work together as well as combined with the Legendary that increases the number of chains.
Crackling Energy is useless and does almost nothing. Instead of it:
DESINTEGRATE: Channel a beam of Lightning for 3 seconds. Deals (massive damage in total, but many ticks of smaller amounts of damage) and roots you in place. Immune to damage and CC. 1st passive: Lucky Hit: 15% chance to reduce the cooldown for 1 Second. 2nd Passive: Critical Hits grant 5% Barrier of Max HP.
To compliment all of these changes, a change to the Crackling energy Mastery passive as well:
Lightning Overload. Lucky Hit: Each time Chain Lightning and Lightning Spear strike a target, you get 15% Lucky hit chance to cast the same spell again at 50% effectiveness, once per cast. Spells cast from Lightning Overload cannot trigger Lightning Overload.
Enchantment: Chain Lightning. Does 20% of the damage in a small area around each target.
And there you go. Sorcerer is now infinitely more fun class to play.
