Hello kind nephalems,
I have finished the main story and I’m super confused and kind of disappointed about so many points in the story. For me it feels completely disconnected from all former Diablo games.
- Why do we get any help from a Prime Evil and take it? Aren’t we in the game to fight all the evil?
- How the hell can he (Mephisto) be in the game and who helped him to be there? He just appeared because he can?
- What happened with our light side the Heaven? 0 Angels which might help us.
Inarius is just a douchebag
- Why would we take any help from Mephisto and use the hard earned Soulstone on him? This is so weird
- At the end we fight so many mini bosses included Lesser Evil Duriel from D2…how the hell is he here and who did resurrect him together with all the others?
Did I miss anything on the way to the end, is it just me or does anyone else feel it like this?
Best regards

I wish someone can explain
Mephisto isn’t a ally nor friend. Your character denied his help multiple times. Trapping Mephisto in the shard can be a smart choice. If you don’t know if you are going to win against Lilith, taking away what she is after can be a smart move.
But we will see what the future will bring, because the story isn’t finised with Neyrelle and Mephisto.
Keep in mind that Lilith isn’t good nor evil (that’s why her grey and blue eye). She fought heaven aswell hell, and both feared her. And sometimes your enemy can be your best ally at some point when a greater force threatened you and your enemy. But you can also use that in your favor. It just depends on the situtation. Mephisto gave multiple hints that he needed your help.
Also keep in mind that Inarius denied the player character. And his order even became hostile in the end, not directly at you but more against Lorath.
So, you tell me who is the “evil” or the “good” now? Time will tell, and let’s see what Blizzard has in petto for us. Because this is just a massive cliffhanger.

The way I interpreted it, Mephisto engineered the situation. Whatever was going on, M had it planned out. In that reading of it, we don’t know what his plan was, just that Neyrelle had that suspicion and it played out how she thought it would.
It seems to me that this is part one of a multi-part story. I’m kind of interested if it becomes a yearly addition. Maybe Bliz pushing D4 in a similar direction to the WoW updates.

You forgot that gaming is a commercialised industry, just like any other entertainment industry like movies, series and music.
Accourse it’s about the dollars, otherwise we wouldn’t have games like this.
ty for the replies.
That Mephisto is needed for DLC is super obvious and yes the story is far from finished…so I guess I need to wait for a conclusion.
The story is weird because it doesn’t feel like a diablo game. Honestly after binging all three before playing this there is definitely a weird shift is the way the story is actually told to the player. Before each act was separated and couldn’t access the next before you finished this story. I was half way through the second act before realizing I didn’t finish the first act. Which granted my fault.
The story doesn’t make any sense from the character pov. Why wouldn’t you believe Lilith? Why would you not believe Lilith but believe mephisto a prime evil(I know we reject him 3 times but we still allow him to do what he wants in the end) ?
Where the hell are the nephalem?
The ending is so confusing because lorath is like "oh some random girl who just began studying our ways stole the soul stone with mephisto in it. What? You want to track her down? Well she said she doesn’t want you to. So that be rude!.
I could go on and on. Personally I love the side stories way way better
TY thats my point…I feel exactly the same. WHY would we believe anything what Master of Hatred has to say.
And final note…where the hell is the Diablo himself?
Hello there! ok as i see it.
- I guess he just want to save himself from being consumed by his daughter! (One for him) and we get to imprison him again in the soulstone (one for us). Beside that, i’m sure he is planning something beforehand.
2.Mephisto was liberated by malthael when he destroyed the black soulstone to gain the power of all the evils.
-
Yeah, here i agree…but we are without Tyrael, from what we know…so, i guess we would have to wait to know more about the heaven archangels!
-
i guess this is some how answered in point 1.
-
As the Evils cannot die, they just respawn in hell, after all the evils where liberated by Malthael, the only need to be spawned at hearth, i suppouse Duriel and Andariel are there because of Lilith and Elias.
This is what i can figure out so much…i might be totally wrong.

I dont know dude. Whole campaign is Lilith literally bitching about stuff.
In Diablo 1-2 there was allmost no dialogues with any monsters. They just wanted to destroy. This made games enigmatic and felt dangerous. There is nothing scary about Lilith…
Diablo 3 and 4 made demons humanlike so now we have all this pointless drama and excuses.
Keep in mind that 1-2 = Real blizzard game. 3-4 is just activision copypaste stuff.
Fortunatelly you can skip campaign after you completed on one toon.
this game is a mess and tangled shallow characters and half assed writing and story
baal is the only cool persona and he would of colourised the drab pallet
