Stuttering, lag, massive frame drops and freezing. Unplayable

On my desktop PC the game is unplayable. High-mid end rig with 3080 its not my PC. But when i play on handheld ROG ally game is smooth. I find this very odd, with no other programs running D4 is using 95% of my 16 gigs of ram on desktop. This could be part of the issue.

I looked at my PC. Its using way way much more ram and the game continues to give lag spikes, black screens when you login, Every time you open a window it stutters. What is going on with the game man?

I find it curious. I know a friend who has a 3080 and certain games just dont play well with his system. meanwhile I rock the old 2080ti and so far knocks on wood I haven’t had a single issue with the majority of games. and When I do, it’s usually a very widespread issue that everyone is experiencing.

To be clear it wasn’t to dunk on your gpu, don’t think I came off as that but just to make sure, Im just saying it now.

Have you checked that any raytracing features are disabled in your graphics settings. I had them on and it cause a lot of crashes and some stuttering issues. When they were disabled almost all of that went away, that and the stability patches that came out.

I have heard disabling cross-play can improve your performance. I haven’t tried it myself and I dunno if that actually is the case but since I’ve heard it been said by several people in posts. Give that a go and see if it does better.

What are you doing in the game when you experience them stutters, where does it lag the most, found any patterns when the game typically freezes or crashes?

ray tracing off, cross play off, neither make a difference. its stutters, lags and freezes the most while in the open world and fighting large groups of monsters. It happens much less in instanced dungeon, but its nearly impossible to get to them without dying because of the freezing.

It’s a server side issue that they are to cheap to fix.

playing with 9600k, 3070 strix and 32gb ram, i have none of these issues
well only some shutter/fps drop right after teleporting to town but thats for few secs - probably just loading

How much GPU memory does your card have?

12 gigs should be more than enough

RESET SHADER CACHE as well.

Stutter comes from building a new cache.

Takes a while until its finished.

getting quite a lot of stutter myself with CPU: 3700x and GPU: 3070
doesn’t matter what graphics settings I select
stutter in ARPG causes me big problems as movement becomes really jerky which can cause motion sickness :frowning:
