It has so much potential, that’s the hardest pill to swallow. I feel, at times, that this is all just one big marketing experiment. Every ‘season’ means more data for them to process. More things to know about how we play and then they move the goalposts accordingly. Are we progressing too quickly? They move the goalposts. Does loot drop too much? They move the goalposts?
I feel that this method of creating and shaping games means that what makes a game ‘fun’ becomes a commodity to be used where needed and overall Blizzard’s main aim is know more and more about this process so they can control more and more how it.
I feel we are nothing more than ‘grinders’ because everything seems to be behind that idea. If you enjoy the process then great. But I am wanting the end point, I want to be powerful, I want to development my character’s potential but I feel the process itself is too skewed in that you get a lot at the start then things slow to a crawl, why does this have to be? People complain about no end-game but if things were allowed to just continue at the same pace then wouldn’t that be better? At the start I was handed points for skills for practically nothing but now (at max level) I have to 1-2 dungeons just for one paragon point, which is measly in comparison and on top of that all the gear I will have farmed (Chaos gear) will just disappear at the end of the season. Which brings me to the other issue with the game and that is the idea of Seasons themselves, the aim of this game is to development your characters potential but because of Seasons you only have 90 days to do it then it’s reset. Now, why would anyone in their right mind want to do that more than a few times?
Back to your question, is it enjoyable? Yes, but only in small parts and in the greater context it can feel like a huge waste of time.
Personally, I’d like them to remove seasons, remove the shop and instead put those items into the game as farmable sets with stats - that’s for as start… I could go on but meh, money is the driver of this game not fun.
