Tempering is a gear killer while Masterworking is mission impossible
extremely hard to get good gear, and here comes tempering you dont get what you need and your gear is good for salavge and if you succeed in tempering Masterworking comes to drain all your resources because it is mission impossible to get the right upgrade …
with the above said the game is a source of frustration and stress and not anymore a soure of joy and entertainment
Yes, that’s right but it is Diablo grafting. It’s not Blizz intention that we enjoy and this happens since D3.
At the beginning of the season, I leveled things up to 6 and left them without playing on a 100 character. The Tide Hell boss was killed almost immediately, consistently within 5-7 seconds. I continued to harden, it only got worse, now I’m fighting a phase 4-6 boss. deception and waste of resources))
Masterworking is not an issue since you can always reset it. Yes, it cost you money and resources, but as long as you can reset it you can eventually get those perfect rolls. The problem is more that you don’t really want to spend all those recourses masterworking a normal item or 1-GA item. I had a lot of resources, but I only masterworked my uber uniques to level 12 since all my other items were only 1-GA items not worth it.
I don’t think tempering itself is a problem either. The problem is that it is extremely rare to get an item with 2, not to mention 3 greater affixes with correct stats. And when you get it, you ruin it with tempering.
There are a few ways to fix this:
-
Allow us to reset tempering like we can with masterworking. This way once you finally get that good item, you can try again and again until you get those correct and high temper rolls.
-
Boost drop rates for GA items. If you get them more often, then you don’t feel that bad when you ruin that only nicely rolled item you got during the whole season.
-
Let the occultist reroll greater affixes, or add some other way to add or change one normal affix of an item to a greater affix.
-
A combination of all the above.
I played season 4 quite a lot, got two classes to level 100, got multiple uber uniques, but still both my Necromancer and Barbarian only got 1-GA items on them. All the 2-GA items were either worthless, useless to my class or tempering failed. And I only ever saw a few 3-GA items which were all with bad stats and worth nothing but salvage.
Now I don’t expect to have full 3-GA gear in a few hundred hours of playing, or even during the whole season, because the grind is the purpose of the game, but it would be nice to see some 2-GA upgrades and maybe even find a few 3-GA items before you get bored and quit. After all, the reason I quit was that I no longer got any upgrades to my characters. I could play for days without a single chance for an upgrade. And again, this was with 1-GA gear. I felt stuck with Necromancer so I rolled a Barbarian and then I realized it’s the very same with Barbarian so I quit the whole game.
