TEMPERING - simple solutions to fix it

Good afternoon to everybody !
This topic is meant to be constructive, so in order to get Blizzard’s attention, I would like to present the most common problems which come hand in hand with the Tempering working mechanism and of course, my simple and easy solutions for them.
So, after I almost rage-quit because of Tempering which destroyed a LOT of my items (gave bad Affixes) in which I spend a LOT of time farming, I decided to do some research and I came to the conclusion that I understand all the constructive and diversity ideas which come in play with the Affixes but I also do not understand Blizzard’s hidden dark ways of keeping players focused in the game and by that I mean, farming gear like a crazy man in hope of getting the perfect drop with desired stats and when you finally get it, you can not really be fully happy about it because the next step will be to apply Tempering which is frustrating and is making people rage-quit (most of the time) because of the excessive RNG involved in getting the desired Affixes.

So, after a long wall of text, here are my simple solutions in order to make Tempering and the whole game experience more pleasureble for everybody :

1 - change the Tempering working mechanism so that you will get a different Affix per each temper roll - so, in other words, that will also eliminate the pretty common and frustrating problem where you get the same Affix 2 or 3 times in a row - in this way, with the 5 available temper rolls you will have a good probability of getting both desired Affixes on the same item

2 - give the possibilty to add more temper rolls to an item in exchange of materials or gold or a different item which you can get from events or dungeons - in this way, the players can finally have a certain level of security that the ideal found item won’t become useless after Tempering

In conclusion, both solutions I gave have the purpose of keeping the player base happy and satisfied and of course, playing for fun !

Great idea, they could also introduce a new consumable tempering items which enhance and resolve frustrations on tempering. In the tempering screen there will be a new slot which you can put a consumable item, only one consumable can be used at time and you can switch between different ones.

Hammer of Luck: (Unique): (10 Uses) -
Increases the chance (5%->25%) of the tempering affix to become a ‘Greater Tempering Affix’, however it uses two tempers instead of one.

Hammer of Hate: (Unique): (10 Uses)
Makes Tempering more random but reduces each temper by 50% (you have double amount of tempers)

Hammer of Forgiveness: (Unique): (5 Uses)
Tempering with this hammer allows you to re-roll the same temper when selecting the same one.

Hammer of Power: (Mythic Unique): (5 Uses)
Allows to add a third temper if the item allows it.

These Hammers can be acquired by end-game content, Hammer of Power can only drop from Uber Tormented Bosses, Tier 90+ NM etc. When you temper it uses a use on the Hammer, so if you tempered 3 times with a hammer you have used 3 uses of it.

And the final consumable which is called ‘Repair Stone’ which allows you you to reset the item back to it’s original temper value but it also removes the tempers and you would need to temper them again (essentially saving your brick item and giving you another chance). You can only use this once on a item and cannot be used over again, however there will be a mythic unique version called Mythic Repair Stone which resets the item and remove the tempers but triples the temper durablity so you can have more chance of getting your roles from the RNG. You can reset the item twice with the normal repair stone and mythic repair stone, if you used the mythic repair stone first and and bricked the item - the item temper durablity will still be tripled if you use the normal stone after as this is a perm affect on your item.

Mythic Repair Stone is very rare and has small chance of dropping from Uber Tormented Bosses, Pit 75+, NM 80+ etc.

There will also be Greater Affix Temper which will give a maxroll of a temper and bonus +25% similar to Greater Affix. By default it’s 5% chance (this can be increased to 25% by using Hammer of Luck but it will double the temper cost).

These Hammers and Stones do essentially work together, each being unique and interesting in it’s mechanics. You can’t stack Hammers, but you can stack stones, Hammers and Repair Stones are within the consumables tab.

Two, three times? Thou art a lucky man. And what about 4-5 times of the same? :)))

Getting the same affix can be frustrating but what if you actually want the same roll? Some people actually try to get better stats if the hit the right one but its a lowroll? With your solution they are screwed. So we are back to the part were you can´t make everyone happy there is no universal solution. I am with you thou that its pretty crap to have a finite chance and then throw away items… that should be changed even if it gets expensive but at least we have a chance instead of thrashing good items.

To be honest, after reading all the ideas posted here, I think that in order to please everyone - the ONLY viable solution is to change Tempering so that you can select what Affix you want and give 5 rolls per each selected Affix so you can get different values for it. So, just select your desired Affix and worry only for the percentage gained, not for the fear of destroying the item.

Being limited to 5 rolls with random chances to get random Affixes is not fun at all because you waste a LOT of time and the solution presented above is the most logical thing to do.

They wont fix NOTHING, they only make it worse.

Just got 5 of the same tempers after eachother, How can anyone even like this game ???

I was very pleased after doing a lot of grinding to get an item that had the buff I so desperately needed for my build, I rolled 5 times on an option of 3 possibles and got the very same useless roll every time, I even logged and left it a while in case the RNG got stuck and came back and got the very same roll. Which I make 243-1 I get the very same roll if I was planning to get that roll at the start.
It’s not like the other rolls are of any use there, there for a different build.
At least with D3 there was a way to keep rolling albeit at a cost

They already did, a re-tempering scroll will appear.

So, it seems that in the new expansion, Vessel of Hatred, Blizzard will add the Scroll of Retempering - which you can obtain once per week for completing the Citadel but don’t get your hopes high. Just to be clear, one scroll per week. This scroll will allow us to roll Tempering for another 5 times. Attention - you can use the scroll only once on each item, so If you won’t get lucky with the first 5 rolls, you will brick your items eventually on the other 5 rolls, lol. I don’t know about you guys but to me, it feels like a cheap trolling move. Either the scroll will allow you to re-temper your items multiple times / infinitely, or just don’t introduce it at all. The problem is that this scroll won’t solve the problem of wasting a LOT of time farming perfect items and bricking them after but it also gives false hopes to players. So, a one time use of the scroll is pointless. They must introduce the posibility to reset Tempering at a cost just like Masterworking because the bricking chance of items is very high.
