Seriously, this games gambling needs to drop down significantly. Feels like it’s cranked up to eleven. You spend so much time to get item that MAY become what you want it to be, but then BAM it’s bricked or wrong bonuses. MORE desired outcomes, LESS gambling, this is what this game needs. We have enough uncertainties. More diversity of loot and varied equipment with unique stats and aspects, but LESS gambling. Just let us choose with gold and resources and not gamble with stupid systems

Tempering an amazing item to only get terrible results with random luck is just garbarge!
With the amount of gold you are giving us from the Hordes, let us temper with Gold!
Let “US” make the choice! You allow us to control every other aspect of the build, so why not Tempering?!
tempering and masterworking. Both are such sore spots in the diablo 4 gameplay
There should still be an element of unpredictability!
For example:
I choose to increase the size of the dust devil (Boom, first problem solved, I made the choice), but the game determines whether it grows by 22% or 42%. I can then spend gold to push for the maximum size, with each attempt costing more.
At least I get the initial size increase I was aiming for without fear of wasting a really good item!
I agree with slwow - there should be ‘some’ chance based effect, but it should be limited to how good an attribute will be. Perhaps we can submit additional materials for a better chance (but not a guarantee) of a better outcome. It shouldn’t feel like we’re urinating in the wind though.
couldnt agree more found neck, and tempered it to shreds… gotta love grinding 8 hours 4 days and still have throw away the item u find. <3 gj on the endgame it is really terrible disigned

I don’t how people do but has a player that plays 1-2h per day, I’ve yet to find super stuff, the best I got is a winterglass with one star and a ring with 3 star.
I bricked a LOT of great items since Tempering was introduced in the game but it’s randomness is just overwhelming and way too many perfect items are getting destroyed this way.
Blizzard said that Tempering has a 33% of getting you BOTH the desired affixes but in reality, I believe that percentage is somewhere in the (20% - 25%) area because I usually brick 3 or 4 perfect items until I get it done - and getting 4 perfect items of the same kind can be a hardcore grind fest since everything is so random in this game.
For example, in the last 2 weeks I bricked 3 perfect items which I really need and the problem is that perfect items with Greater Affixes have a very low drop rate - and when they actually drop, you can’t even be happy because you know Tempering has a very high chance of bricking them, so your farming was in vain.
Also, I read that in the new expansion (Vessel of Hatred), Blizzard will introduce the Scroll of Retempering which will “unbrick” an item and give you an additional 5 more rolls of Tempering.
To be honest, I don’t see this scroll as an solution because you can use a scroll on an item only ONCE and if you have bad luck your item will remain perma-bricked - so, that scroll won’t fix the problem + you can obtain one scroll per week if you complete the Citadel.
So, all in all, Tempering needs to be reworked completely since the random factor is way to high in comparison to the small chance of getting a drop of a perfect item.
