Thoughts on Unique items and builds

In a better spot for sure, hands down.

But I am unsure atm if we are meant to equip lots of them or not, since I can get pretty wild with connecting unique, however the build will underperform versus removing a few pieces.

Now idk if at the double triple side of things it will work. but at base level this tends to be the case from what i can tell. the build will smash hard in T2 but crawl to push in T3 and stale mates trying to get to T4 or fails everything One Star or higher MW. Glyphs all leg.

Not that it’s horrible to play with a few less pieces, it’s just something i have noticed so for example Having Hell hammer and Crimson offers a crazy Fire and blood build. it both GA items, I just underperform to my GA hammer in that slot.

So I can go into further detail, but all i am trying to get across in a nutshell is it seems intended since i can get creative and access to build breaking coomb’s since these items give us skill access, however in comparison to a GA 1 or higher, i tend to do more damage and find pushing easier. :man_shrugging:

Only other thing to consider i guess, is The power drops on the Unique items despite being GA can often be lower than a common one, and so given the drop rate on that, it feels like a lifetime or two away before i would find one.

Maybe that is the point to reserve that for higher GA unique for them to come online in the torment push. I am not sure. Since i don’t have those items atm.

Another factor which S7 will help with is armory, so Switching up can lead to mistakes.

So yeah idk , all i know is using HH and Crimson in the same build is a fire and bloody mess of fun to play, and Almost worth sticking to T2 just to play it, I broke T3 with it at 50, but beyond that it stalls out, and i am unsure if MW all the way will solve that issue, so i might try after pushing pits first.

Maybe those with higher level GA unique can share some insight onto if they do come online at full MW or not. When used in this way where all or close to the gear slots are unique items.

Perhaps this is intended due to Runewords Idk, but yeah It’s worth discussing i think, since the fun builds do tend to come out stacking unique, but so far they don’t seem preform as well, the more that is stacked, certainly on the barb atleast from my perspective and gearing.

That was my findings so far building this season. so just wanted to share to open the discussion and share information the best I can to help continue to improve D4.

Best performing season though since i typically do this so even on T2 early T3 its a blast to play.

Ciao, Thank you.

i still feel the set system in d3 was en is way better then the unique system we got now in d4 and you could really easy get set’s by just playing a seasonal character i got all my sets in d3 in that way.

Fair point.

I Don’t think it’s hard, It’s jut a matter of what is viable and what is broken, so perhaps what i am trying to build is too weird to how the game is.

Question is, if that is the case, or bit of both or if one bit of gear , ST, PB choices are off.

That being said, getting to t3 with it, first time round is fun and no problem. Armory will make it easier to tinker.

So it’s still endgame playable, pools of blood, hellfire upheavals. Part of the fun is figuring out builds imo.

That said what I am discussing with unique is more about getting them in line a liitle more with tempering items, since for every Unique we do lose those. So What I find is it is easier to keep it to one Unique or two and gear for that, Easy to bring Crimson and HH online by themselves.

But It is fun to have fire and blood covering the ground right so there is a build that has all the synergy with Damage over time and Fire right, so In theory this pairs well with beserking, and it’s easier to set up than Aspect items, so in a sense these are like sets right.

However It does seem a touch weaker to play is how it feels, as you loose those tempers.

But what i dont know yet is if they really come online with MW and GA2-3, That is the Question. When and were does the intended power sit. with Unique builds, at GA1 and MW etc so there is that.

It take more effort, but it’s more satisfying in the long wrong to put something together so I prefer this system personally.

D3 was simple, and that works too. I wouldn’t be mad if they added sets, as long as it doesn’t make Unique irrelevant.

It had a charm to it, but for me the stat sifting wasn’t fun. So I never climbed in that game. and never got anything special, just make a ancients set and that was enough to get my little seasonal rewards :man_shrugging: it was fun in its own way at the time.

i want skysplitter from d3. but lightning is ass on this engine though…

looking forward to mountain´s fury mantle, verrrry curious to see the seismic effect, hoping seismic slam is back on the menu. and viable.

They took loads of good abilities from other Diablo games and made them trash, a few are ok but a lot are just crappy versions of other diablo games.
Like for example, do you want Diablo 3’s Demon hunter Strafe or Diablo 4’s Rogue Dance of Knives.
Can’t speak for everyone but in my opinion Strafe felt a million times better for many reasons, Dance of Knives even looks worse, functions worse, and is less fun to play.
To me rogue is just a trash Demon hunter with a few new abilities that aren’t bad. Mostly the other D4 classes are just bad versions of other Diablo game characters too.

As for uniques, most are just uninspired stat boosts or out right useless items, there is very little if any items where you choose to wear it to MODIFY a build instead of just outright require it to function or find it useless to equip. Uber uniques are pretty generic and in this case isn’t bad, but there is a clear best in slot choice and no other options which becomes the problem.
