Uninstall/Re-install

I’m having the same problem as it seems many PC players are experiencing that of being disconnected any time i use town portal.
Just wondering if i uninstall the game then reinstall will my characters and progress be lost or will i be able to recover them?

Your characters and progress is not saved locally. You are good to reinstall whenever and will not lose progress. You may lose settings tho.

It’s unlikely to help at all. I’ve tried this 3 times already to no avail.
Drivers are up to date. Rig is decent. Internet is good & stable.

There seems to be a good number of people having issues with Diablo 4 specifically in terms of game stability & server connection stability. Among them I’ve seen people posting new high end desktops & boasting 1k internet connections that still suffer these same issues. Meanwhile there’s a good number of other players inexplicably unaffected as well. (lucky them :wink: )

There’s some basic things you can do that may or may not help improve your overall stability, but there’s no guarantee that these will remedy your issues in D4.

  • updating all network drivers
  • update gpu driver
  • try to improve your internet connection by getting a wired connection ( recommending Minimum Category 6 Ethernet cable for today’s internet) instead of Wi-fi.
  • If using a PC; upgrade some components. Though if the costs of said upgrades are kind of steep it might be better to hold off until you feel ready to buy a new rig instead.
  • Having D4 installed on an SSD may also help overall stability.
  • Keep programs running in the background down to a bare minimum (especially any that might influence your bandwidth)
  • Run the program at lower settings.
  • Turn off crossplay in the settings of the game.

These are a number of things that “could help”. But I believe the underlying problems of game & network stability are related to the servers blizzard is using or the game itself. Probably the latter.

Thanks for your rather extensive reply. I do believe that Blizzard are at fault here as it seems to be only PC players affected by the disconnect issue as far as I can see. My Re-install made no difference except that now when I tp out of a dungeon after completion I get kicked. I had no issues with the game until the Patch 1.1.1 happened. My son playing on his x-box using the same router as I am has no issues. Hopefully upcoming patch will resolve this issue.

It may be some computer specific firewall setting. Since it’s only happening when using a tp, maybe it’s some specific package. But those are wild guesses. Have you, just for testing it, excluded all Diablo and bent related from your firewall?

I don’t believe that to be the case, but I will double examine all my firewall settings before playing again just to check. Will be brilliant if its as easy to fix as that, just seems strange there were no problems until the last patch though.
