Seems like they just been nerfed to become completely useless having 1 less stat than legendary items. Stats/damage/armor should roll in higher rolls than legendaries, for them to become useful. Like for example found 2 ilvl925 crossbows (rare and legendary) and they both have the same 3775 dps, stat rolls also looks like they’re the same, why not making rare rolling 3775-4075 dps randomly, having more life/stat than usual same with blues having way more sockets on armor, way higher rolls on life. Bring back BiS, cool longevity induced rares and blues from DIABLO II, looks like we’re not far away from a step into right and bright direction! Game now must be getting amazing feedback, just please take your time, try and make it right. THANKS!
The way D4 works having 4 good stats will always be better than having 3 good stats, No matter how high they roll. They are making rares useless because thats what people want. People have been asking for loot filters and complaining about having to read through hundreds of rare items to find that one small upgrade, since the game launched. Personally i am thrilled about this, i cant wait to just click salvage all after a NM dungeon, instead of carefully looking through everything.
I stopped collecting any rare in S3 as I prioritized collecting ancestrals or legendaries to save aspects, but realized in PTR that rares came quite handy in the end to salvage Vield crystals, which is a much needed material for tempering I was always short of.
This last week or so I’ve finally managed to accrue a few veiled crystals as spending has gone down since I’ve acquired most things I was looking at.
Been out of veiled crystals the entire season. Got 700 of them now, and 7k forgotten souls.
I figure there’s a bit of a problem with this. So I’m hoping things will change because I like experimenting, rolling stuff here and there, and I couldn’t do that to the extent that I wanted this past season.
About blues and rares: I prefer it if things dropping is of at least some quality. If yellows are trash, then I know so I don’t have to bother. Favorable, imo.
Auto Salvage option would be nice
Let’s say legendary boots perfectly roll 12% MS, 40 Dex, 200 armor, some specific build does not benefit from extra armor, so rare item rolling 12-15% MS 40-50 Dex, having one less affix, but rolling higher values would benefit more
Thinking like this:
Blue: +50% stats, 2 stats; (1+1)x1.5 = 3 total
Yellow: +25% stats, 3 stats; (1+1+1)x1.25 = 3.75 total
Brown: +0% stats, 4 stats; (1+1+1+1)x1 = 4 total
Or if its:
Blue: +50% stats, 1 stat; 1x1.5 = 1.5 total
Yellow: +25% stats, 2 stats; (1+1)x1.25 = 2.5 total
Brown: +0% stats, 3 stats; (1+1+1)x1 = 3 total
Could be fairly balanced but that relies on the stats themselves being of similar value.
Was thinking this before but I don’t really know if it is actually a good idea. Because we will go deeper into item scrutiny, something many want out of. And then there’s the issue of what is what, what’s good for the build? Such questions are great but there already are many such questions. And then there’s the inventory complication, because we’d be stocking all four item qualities, from blue to beige.
I like it, but I don’t, if you know what I mean.
Exactly like this with higher values. In Diablo II you don’t pick every single blue or rare, but finding JMoD, 4/100 Dusk Shroud or some rare gozu claw is a different feeling, different value. You don’t even encounter those ‘valuable’ blues/rare that much while farming and finding one means there’s a slim to none chance that it will roll the stats you want. There’s much to learn on Arreat Summit, Blizzard must have forgotten about all the knowledge their website offers, what made DII a great game.
Back in the beginning of D3 there was these white weapons that dropped. Low level only, of ‘superior’ quality. I think one had 25% attack speed. I thought to save them back then because I figured that… possibly… those could turn into crafting base materials. They never did. It was a longshot, obviously. But the idea is sound I think: Find that excellent white that you craft a perfect item with.
I would like to do something like that. Maybe find a blue as a base, or yellow, and then add things in that makes it perfect. The aspect system is a bit like that. Could be expanded on.
But yeah, don’t really know about these things. It’s complicated where we get items and what those items can be. Systems that I think would be pretty cool might be super uncool to others, especially casual guys. Everything has to be easily understood and overviewed.
