I’ve been playing Diablo since the very first game, and as a longtime fan, I was excited to be selected as a beta tester for Diablo 4. I’ve experienced every edition—Diablo 1, 2, and 3 including all the expansions—and each one had its own charm. Diablo 1, 2, and 3 were strong as single-player games, with Diablo 3 adding some enjoyable online options.
But Diablo 4 has been a huge disappointment for me. It’s an open-world online experience, and instead of focusing on the core story, it feels like chaotic distractions are everywhere. The constant interruptions from other players really take away from what made the original games great. I was originally looking forward to Diablo 4, hoping it would return to the feel and structure of Diablo 2, but it hasn’t.
Despite buying the game in pre-purchase for €99, I no longer play it. It just doesn’t live up to the legacy of its predecessors.
