What's the point of collecting Chaos Armor?

If it is removed at the end of the Season?

Seems an exercise in futility to collect something that will disappear and all that work for nothing esp if you wanted to carry it over to the Eternal Realm - kind of makes it absolutely pointless to collect.

I don’t get it. I really don’t.

Before you respond I know there may be short-term ‘fun’ to be had with experimenting but after 90 day period, poof! It’s gone? You’re happy with that?

Before I knew it’s going to be removed I was farming it like mad. Now, I’ve switched away from it and back to trying to farm the generic uniques which is frustrating because a lot of the current game’s content is built around obtaining the Chaos armor which is actually quite depressing now that I think about it. It’s really sneaky of Blizzard and quite shallow.

Its called “Seasonal play” and has been around since d4 was released. :astonished:
Every season “we are now on season 10” New stuff gets released into the grind. :smiling_imp:

if you dont like it! :smirk:
Play Non seasonal :+1:

Happy hunting

I think you missed my point in your quest to answer a certain way.

I know how seasons work, thank you for that, and yes we are in Season 10, again, many thanks for the reminder. You didn’t answer my question though

He did answer though. Seasonal mechanics and items first and foremost belong in their season. When the season ends, the seasonal stuff is gone, and something new awaits in the next season. That is how it works. IF a seasonal mechanic or item is popular enough, and not disruptive to future seasonal themes, it may become a permanent addition, but in the case of chaos armor, its just very unlikely, as it would make it next to impossible to create any future seasons revolving armor pieces. This is the same reason the jewlery gems from past seasons never made it to eternal, there is only 3 jewlery gem slots, just like there is only 5 armor slots. If you lock these in with a previous season mechanic, you cant create a new seasonal mechanic for them in the future.

So to answer your question. What is the point of collecting chaos armor? So you can use it in the current season.
Seasons are not a means to an end, to feed your eternal characters. Seasons are the main game mode, not eternal.

seasons are pointless xD and with those absurdly low drop rates even more pointless ))

Ok, let me clarify a little more. I asked what the point of Chaos Armor was and by that I meant, what is the point of collecting if it will disappear?

You said, it’s a Seasonal thing and yes I get that. But my point is about the armor itself because it’s a physical collectable/wearable thing which hasn’t been done before, right?

I get the removal of powers and events/activities that Seasons bring. But actual armor is different and so what this essentially means, for the first time, if I am correct, you could spend a whole lot of time building up your character’s gear only for it all to magically disappear and you be sent to the Eternal Realm naked, right?

Can you see the context of what I was saying now? I apologize if I wasn’t clear enough, my bad.

P.S. It greatly reduces the incentive to play Eternal - see what they did there?

Thanks for the replies though, much appreciated!

Well in that case there is no point. If you arent gonna use it, there is no use holding on to it.

after grinding months of keys doing 1000’s of bosses and still not getting a single max stat uniqe the chaos season gave me a chance to see the full potential of a build… moved my WW barb from pit 90 to torment 130 to have max stats… but still only 1 GA items

so im already done with the season and i think pretty much the game entirely… it simply not fun to do 2000 hours and not get any multiple GA items… can still one shot all bosses but there is no progression in this game after first day of play…

i miss diablo 2 where you actually found better items as you moved up difficulty

there is no difference in T1 and T4… its the same crap… just more of it…

they should really put more GA to each torment so in Torment 4 it would be full GA items… and still finding the right 3 stats would take ages ( 10 seasons and i still havent found boots with GA on Warcry which is what could scale up my char futher in eternal realm… or the GA on chance to make enemies vulnarable on ring…

Yes, for sure the work/reward ratio in the later stages of the game is horrible. You almost feel dirty and sick at the amount of grinding needed for something you don’t even need, really. Yet, because we want to development, or maximise, our character’s potential we tend to carry on through it, often to the detriment of ourselves and how we feel about the game.

I feel that the Chaos armor is just an illusory gap-filler. The pattern seems to be that they reduce the % chance of the real items but then offset that by handing you ‘temporary’ items for fun?
Also, with Chaos armour disappearing the motivation to continue on Eternal will greatly diminish which highlights a horrible dichotomy in that it shows that Blizz don’t really want you to play Eternal and one of the reasons for that could be that you would, more quickly, realize how horrible the grind pattern and work/reward ratio is and as a result will probably stop playing altogether and by doing things like this (removing your armor and leaving you naked) it stop you from wanting to make that jump (to Eternal). It’s very underhanded.
Off the back of this you could argue that it’s all about keeping you online and keeping you spending.

Don’t they understand that Seasons (in the way it’s currently implemented) is a horribly shallow concept? I mean why don’t they just create actual content each season at levels similar to the main game’s story? Why don’t they add the shop equipment to the game as farmable sets? There is so much they could do to improve the longevity of this game but instead they choose the cheapest route all while pushing things to spend money on.

I’ve come to realize that the only thing eternal in this game is the shop.

Heh welcome to the club :facepunch:

I mean you could factor in frustration with mechanics :scream: as well :+1:
That’s pretty eternal too :grimacing:

It’s quite an exciting game, meant to be enjoyable and fairly ephemeral in places.

I wouldn’t get so emotionally involved

The story is interesting and it’s always nice to follow meaningful content. But Seasons is what’s left. As far as getting emotional, it’s hard not to, I care about games and gaming and what I see in Diablo 4 is something I’m seeing more and more in modern games, which is that game development has been boiled down into a recipe for making money and the bit that we enjoy (as players) is an after-thought. As though the ‘grinding’ or carrot on a stick part of the formula is all that is required for us to be satisfied and then the rest is about working out how to make the most amount of money.

exactly guys, i cant agree more -,-
The farming of T4 bosses or Hordes is soooooooo boooring aaand unfun - u summon a boss he dies in a 0,1 sec and loot is all trash ---- repeat bilion times for even more trash ))) gg. It should be exact the oposite — the bosses should be rly hard and have HP equal to pit 100+ and it should reward you for ur effort to defeat it with high quality loot. But what this actually is an utter nonsense, pointless boss spaming for nothing. It feels like a time-stealing scam! Each season i clear my journey and call it – bb next time
But you know what ? They dont care - as long as there are i****s that are buying their crapy cosmetics lol xddd why would anybody buy such O_o /cringe
Also they wont implement in game AH coz that would make things easier—the online market is sooo confusing bs is hard to not get scammed – no its hard to even sell anything coz the prices are always different or outdated -,- for example same Tal rasha ring listed for between 500m to 7bilions with almost the same stats -,- how u should know what is the actual price, what is actualy a real seller or price holder / scammer ? im sorry but no thx! + the prices of good pieces are absurdly high, purposelly to corespond 3rd party gold sellers ))) u cant have that much gold unless u buy it, and thats why the prices are astronomical xD 60 billions my ASS! xD lol its so much obvious its mega-cringe
(sry for my gramatics and bad EN)))

Maybe, what you’re looking for, would be to have your ‘eternals’, KEEP their ‘seasonal’ item(s) / buffs, etc… and be able to play those ‘favorite’ “eternal” characters? Kinda like being able to play a season, AFTER it ends? Is that what you’re expressing here? I would think, being able to play, ‘past seasons’, would be something Blizzard could actually use to determine, what works / liked, by the community, for ‘future’ use. Kinda like they did with D3 and ‘eventually’ even made some ‘things’, permanent additions to the game, due to the quality of life improvements it added… my opinion. It’s been said that, “diversity, is the ‘spice’ of life”.

They already do that. There are plenty of seasonal mechanics that made it into the game permanently. Infernal hordes, horadric strongrooms, Belial ect. The issue with mechanics involving itemization becoming permanent, is that it limits the future possibilities of new seasonal mechanics, and in the case of chaos armor, it also completely obsoletes legendary armor and aspects. We only have a set ammount of item slots and gem slots, if any seasonal mechanic involving either becomes permanent, that slot is forever locked in for that specific mechanic. What then, when all the slots are used up? No more itemization mechanics in seasons?
You mentioned D3 as a example, well if you think about it, D3 steered clear of making any seasonal itemization mechanic permanent, for the very same reason.

Personally, i would rather see chaos rifts become a permanent addition, instead of chaos armor. Chaos rifts really spiced up NM dungeons and Helltide, without disturbing the core itemization systems.

My point was more about the futility of grinding for all this gear only for it to disappear at the end of the season, essentially leaving your character naked. This has never been done before and I think it’s Blizzard’s clever way of giving us things without ever having to give us anything, while attempting, albeit in a very cheap way, to maintain interest in Seasons. When in actual fact, for me anyway, it’s doing the complete opposite. The idea of working hard during the 3 month window to develop your character only to end up naked at the end just destroys my interest in pursuing that content. So, instead I’m just focusing on the normal uniques and ubers, which is a shame given that the Chaos Armor is a big part of the ‘content’ for this Season.

So TLDR, the idea of heading into the Eternal Realm naked after a long (and often very tedious) grind is just a slap in the face. It’s cheap, shallow and gimmicky.
