I’m sorry but this just isn’t Diablo anymore reasons:
1: level scaling mobs (there is no way to really test how good your char is becoming because you never feel that Overpowered feeling mostly you just feel weak and pitiful
2: running dungeons looking for items to use on other items takes too long and is just tedious (too much like WoW)
3: repair costs are starting to become obstructive to progression ( I recall D3 having a similar issue) as well as crafting to keep up with the scaled up mobs
4: also cooldowns are too long and some of the bosses seem to be hyper-active on steroids
5: side quests are sometimes just tedious and boring , (again a WOW throwback)
it also feels like the game was designed with group play in mind not solo players although it would seem that the Devs are trying to diminish this !
the game was Sold on players being able to create their own playstyle but I don’t feel that it seems that the devs concluded which playstyle would become the Meta for each char type and built the encounters to counteract this which makes non meta players have an even harder progression

I agree I force my self to try and play but after the story and after world tier 4 I’m level 73 now its just a drag to play solo… no way to find a party the nightmare dungeons are not any good their just the same dungeons I ran to collect everything. They need to fix something idk what but something. Right now I’m not playing anymore because its so draining I’ll see what season 1 has but if its not fun I’m done I’ll just wait for POE2 to come out

100% this!!
I play as a Necromancer and don’t use any of the Ultimate skills at all as those are just a waste of time. Literally. 50-70 seconds on cooldown is useless in a dungeon situation where you have 2 or 3 elites spawning CC and adds with massive aoe attacks.
As for the bosses, some of them do seem to suddenly gain a speed boost or start teleporting around and know exactly where you will be so they can land right on top of you.

100% agree, I hit lvl 83 but since 73-74 haven’t got a single decent upgrade, I spammed dung world boss everything, its just so many hours and not worth it.
quests are dead no xp worth mention no reward nothing.
I dont know how people hitting 100, but its so boring at this lvl I cant bring myself to play anymore

For me the gripe is that the complexity and tediousness clash with the game type. This is ARPG. I want to sit down for 30 minutes to an hour and slash through some monster hordes. The amount of different stats, the skills that are building on each other, the long-winded dungeons, this is not what I want from an ARPG. I have played a bunch of these games, including the previous installments of this series, and they all seemd to get it. But Diablo4 somehow seems to think that it should be something different, something more serious. Can’t do much about that. But I don’t need to be a part of it.

For me the smart loot thing is a problemi. It works like crap here. 20 uniques and they are all the same 3 items over and over. There are many neutral not class related uniques that will absolutely not drop. Ofcourse blizz said that they will look in to this and fix it but it feels like game isnt rewarding. D4 has amazing comabat and i like the itemization but whole paragon reset and item management system ( not enough space to stack multiple build items ) is anti multi build. Trying different builds on 1 char is just uber horrible. They need to take few notes from last epoch because those guys nailed it. You have unlimited stash tabs there (just costs more and more gold to get ), Item filter to find items in those tabs easier, anything not item like gems there have neutral tab. Diablo need a lot of qol to make trying different builds easier so when you get this upgrade but not for your build than you can try different one. It would make farming less tedious.

1.) I can totally feel a difference even after switching just 1 or 2 items.
2.) the game is out for like 2 weeks… it does not take too long. In fact, I get the feeling that I get enhancements every other day and getting BiS (best in slot) is supposed to take long.
3.) the game needs a gold sink. Also, if you don’t die often, the repair cost is not a big deal. I have to say tho, I don’t see why it had to be that big in numbers… I have several million gold. Just cut some zeroes on the drops and cost.
4.) get items with cooldown reduction. You will need them.
5.) sidequests are a nice story part but the main thing of an Arpg is and always was to grind the hell out of it, not doing story missions.
I agree, I wish there was more incentive to ply in groups. If everything can be done solo, why would anyone look for others to join? A dungeon finder tool that allows to search for players in range would be nice.

i’m level 80 and i kill everything in one hit. i don’t see the point of farming high nightmare dungeons to get the same experience, and i don’t need to improve the glyphs because i already kill in one hit. make the higher ones give more experience.
Campaign was pretty fun and the game looks good but it’s just so damn boring. Never had an ARPG like this before.

I agree with OP and others here. POE was fun a few years ago and kept me playing for hours. Grim Dawn, I have played the living Jesus out of that game, trying out so many builds. In D4, after half an hour it starts feeling like a drag, and I want to do something else, like watch youtube or whatnot. I don’t get it, the reviews for D4 were all raving.
Edit: switching chars helped me , playing a Blood Surge Necro atm, he is more tanky and does good damage, therefore not such a drag as my former chars. But still, this game is lacking a “wow” feeling.

I’m guessing you play a whirlwind barb ! IM ALSO THANKFUIL THAT YOU BOTHERED TO READ THE THREAD BUT IM NOT GETTING INTO A “GET GUD” discussion (sorry for caps )
actually I would argue that I’m doing it exactly as the Devs suggested : i.e. make your own build and play the char how you want to play !
the issue is that their design idea isn’t what a core Diablo should be, with convoluted dungeons and an item specific build rather like the "Hammerdin of D2, I run a rogue at least until they finally introduce a paladin or crusader and if I check through the possible aspects I don’t see one for a Rapid fire build just mainly twisted blades and Flurry ,
Also I’m stuck trying to complete the campaign so I cant progress ! which is the main issue and has diminished my enjoyment to such an extent that I have reduced my playing time to a bare minimum and I’m only at level 52 ATM a long way to go and not having received the mount quest yet it has become rather tedious running around the world doing side quests and a few relevant dungeons , I’m not adverse to the grind having 4x lvl 99 chars in the original Bnet D2 and 100s of hours including hardcore in D3 , so that’s not the issue but if i wanted to play WoW again I would .

Nope, necro /charsss
inb4: No, I am not playing shadow mist necro. Nor any maxroll/icy veins, tho there might be overlaps, I’ve made the one using crappy drop rate we have to deal with, I don’t think I could make any of meta builds by team I needed decent build.
i have a suggestion why dont you hit me up in game and maybe you can help me finish the campaign ?
