Season 2 saw a great sorcerer build with ball lightening, 90% of the sorcerer player base were seriously enjoying the absolute destruction of the build and having fun ( which is why we play) . Season 3 emerges and ball lightening is nerfed for class balance and this is where they got it wrong, instead of nerfing spells and talents that seem too powerful but are widely enjoyed by the community the focus should be on bringing the other spells/talents up to that lvl to balance classes. The balance is going the wrong way destroying fun builds/spells in a hope of making other builds/spells viable alienates the player base, we want over powered and mass destruction balance can bugger off and leave us to our fun and if the Devs do need to make other spells etc viable buff em up don’t nerf what has proven to be fun
Ya but they’re on the right track now with 95% hota barb and 5% oddballs.
I wonder if they will remove the last 5%, maybe a hota buff? Like hota now kill all mobs on the screen? That would fix it I think.
Perhaps a function that tells u that u’ve selected the wrong class if u pick something other than barb, right in the beginning of the game? Not just tell u but bring u right back to the character creation screen? That way u can’t make a mistake.
Blizzard is being very conservative with the amount of “fun” we can have with our builds. It’s almost like they’re afraid that we would not be struggling enough to grind for gear. I really think they simply don’t play their own game.
maybe… but that’s the point hota barb is fun as is charge barb but the dev’s will look at it and nerf them next season and make improvements on a different set , instead of leaving hota and charge as they are and improving others to match so that we have a choice of play styles rather then always ending up with a fun meta build whilst others lag behind… this seasons meta shouldn’t become next seasons boring build
While i agree that nerfing anything fun to the ground is the wrong way to go, i dont think buffing everything else is the way either, thats how you get powercreep. No matter what, something will always be stronger than something else, and if we always buff and never nerf, numbers will only ever go up, untill we have a Diablo 3 situation where we are dealing hundreds of billions of damage without even trying.
Systems and itemization needs to be redesigned entirely, to make a more managable game. There are far too many variables and exploitable bugs in the current state of the game.
I don’t hate on hota barb, I really don’t, but I don’t want that gameplay either, don’t see it as fun. I think my problem is that there’s no good baseline.
The objective of the game is to have fun, make some cool plays.
Nerfing is a tool to use for balancing, lower the effectiviness on something. That’s made for fun but is seen as a punishment.
What about if all builds always one-shot everything? Would that be fun and what you are looking for? The only reason hota is seen as fun is because it does something greater than something else. It’s literally a matter of relativity.
Hota is great because it lets me bypass Duriel within the minute, a gate to pass. That’s the use for it. It also removes world boss gameplay and largely removes legion gameplay. Which is alright, I guess; why not, it’s trash gaming anyway. Was pretty fun in the beginning but then the game becomes about efficient time usuage and for that hota helps.
For me the game isn’t about efficient time useage. I’m here to push buttons and see cool events happen. And I can. But I can’t kill Lilith or Duriel, which is too bad I suppose. But at least I’ve been pushing buttons and been content with that.
Sometimes it’s fun when some barb shows up but I usually slip away after a bit u know. They do that too cuz… I guess it’s a bit embarrassing after a while. Sometimes I follow them around for a bit, just to harvest. They don’t like that. Especially if I get up on my horse, clearly showing I have no intent to attack anything or play with them. It’s a bit toxic so I don’t really do that much though.
Ball lightning was worse than hota in general gameplay since it evaporated everything in contact with the balls. Meaning it’s someone you don’t want to play with because you can’t.
Uncertain why I say this. To whom? Am I writing this to you or? Am I trying to explain why some gameplay doesn’t work in a multiplayer game?
Did you know that Diablo was always a multiplayer game? Every one of them is. Not strictly, however, because none of them works for multi. It’s more of show-off multi I guess. Like you can show how good your gear is. Which is why it gets embarrassing for a barb not one-shotting Duriel. Shame it’s a bit random so sometimes it’s not a one-shot. But it can be alleviated by gearing up so it happens most of the time.
However, in early game the games does work in multi.
Anyway, not sure what gameplay the developers want to convey. Not sure they know themselves exactly what they like to achieve. But they did commit to the multi aspect with D4 and that’s good, that’s why I bought the game. They will eventually have to own up to it though and I think that inevitably means hota can’t remain the way it is as we can’t play together like that.
There are many times metas in games for ppl who are not very skilled. But it get worse if they get used by skilled players. Then they become overpowered. Same for fps games. There is always the one weapon that many ppl use. I am not like that. But i picked druid as first class. And the build i use now is pretty strong. (Own made build) i dont watch others builds and gear because then i know what items i need. Its the same as in wow going for a specific mount and then it wont drop.
The only thing i saw is that you can use different traits. Before i was full werebear. But i then was werebear with a boulder.
But it was just like that. I like druid. But i didnt know about barbarian is overpowered if i remember correctly.
Maybe i knew but forgot it and i like druid more.
Also when everyone is overpowered then open world content is no fun. I am still lvling. And sometimes mobs get killed so fast on a legion i am missing alot of xp.
whats wrong is they made the game with the cash shop and battle pass at the center and everything else is just padding to get you to the center. the season system to me is pointless padding for a game that shouldnt last forever on the bare bones of killing everything on screen with meta builds every 3 months just with a different trinket that is shaped differently or instead of being called a gem its a orb or a vampire power. its all the same crap and 90% of the stuff added is pointless filler to act like there is a bunch of content. how many traits are pointless on gear like all but 4. how many abilities were added for season on and how many were used by everyone 2-3 of them all the rest were known to be trash before they even were put in the game in the first place.
