As a Lifelong Diablo fan, the latest iteration of the franchise no longer appeals to me and here’s why:
- Too many foundational changes EVERY season. This indicates that the game has yet to define its identity.
- Class balance is a joke and the spiritborn sets an unrealistic expectation. No class will ever be as powerful as the spiritborn in S6.
- The Aspect system is a lazy way to farm power.
- Tempering is not a rewarding system and RNG in its worst form simply rolling not to brick an item.
- Too much loot. The more loot you get, the less meaningful drops are.
- 90% of Uniques are useless and are not exciting to find. Some useless uniques are fine but theres just way too much crap.
- Endgame is dull. Upgrading glyphs and doing the same repetitive Hordes and Pit runs to upgrade glyphs and masterwork gear gets old fast.
- Masterworking is another lazy power progression system. Number go up power progression doesnt change builds and isn’t worth the time invested.
- When you finally complete your build and max out everything, it feels empty to know the only thing to do after that is more Pit runs.
- Runewords? Hardley game changing or difficult to acquire.
- Greater Affixes, yet another lazy number go up system.
- Last but not least, Itemization. The path Diablo 4 has taken and the direction ahead does not show rewarding power progression with items
