Why so many people hide their gear with private profile?

Tell me why people are doing this ?

There is nothing more annoying than not being able to check someone’s gear when you are partying up with him.

Or not being able to get a better look at a nice skin.

Are they really feeling unsafe with their gear/build to the point they have to hide it to others ?

They remind me of the kids at school who would write down the answers to an exam covering each an every angle with their bodies and elbows in the most suspicious way. Relax dude, I’m not copying from you, I did my homework too.

I was thinking that I wanted to keep my “build” secret, yea. But then I thought that it’s ridiculous cause there’s nothing to hide or special about it.
But then I thought that it’s annoying when people inspect because it’s this constant measuring of epeen that’s going on.
After that I decided that it’s more fun to measure epeen than nothing.

Everything players build in this game was build by blizzard
There is no UNIQUE build or anything
for that this game needs to have a lot of stuff added in to maybe figure something out but even then i don’t think it’s gonna happen.

Every good builds can be found in youtube and you can also watch how they works.

Just the epeen thing left then. Guess that’s the reason they keep it private.
There’s one more thing though: You ever feel it’s annoying when someone comes talking about gear without you asking? Annoying in my opinion.
I keep it open anyway, cause I’m just that much of a philantropist that I figure it’s more fun if people can inspect others. What else we doing together?

Why do you care? There’s like 4 sets in the game that people wear you know them all. The only thing you’d be checking is stats of gear and you don’t even need to worry about that either since you have websites and youtubers telling you the best. So unless you’re wanting see how far from the meta(s) they are by comparing it to the meta you’re following (and be honest no one is using their own builds) then I see no reason for it. In fact they should just remove inspection as it serves zero purpose. The gear is not varied enough. Every end game player will have the same uniques etc … so what’s to see?

The real thing that is missing is builds, though I haven’t inspected anyone since before Season 1 so maybe they’ve added that option. But if you can’t look at people’s builds then I don’t see the point and even then there isn’t enough variety there either to make that worth doing.

If there was more variety in gear and more variety in builds then yes I could understand your frustration but from what I’ve seen everyone looks the same because all the gear is the same with exception of the bought ($$$) sets and come on you don’t need to inspect someone to know those, do you?

It’s a bit tweaky with the pvp gear cause it has some caps on damage reduction, or so they say. Otherwise it’s all just the same. I’d love it if I could make a few decisions on how my character should play but it’s same as it was wow-style: main stat+stamina. It’s a classic recipe for success, the citizen’s uniform. We all got that reduction, cause can’t play without it. And we all got the stats cause eventually you’ll figure it’s optimal. And yea, we all go life.
Need no ‘guide’ from the space of the web to realise the obvious. At least I didn’t.
But this one’s a bit tricky, u gonna need a read for this one: Crit dmg counts additive with all other, like dmg on close and such. Meaning crit is a static 1.5 factor. Meaning crit dmg is about 1/3 to 1/2 as effective as any other damage stat. thx, blizz; gj. Did make crit dmg irrelevant but how would anyone know? Right, we got the dummy… thx.
Can we haz actual stats? Could stats affect the character? Could there be options on how to play the character? season 4 itemization? thx. I won’t hold my breath.

I would compare it to looking at someone else’s turd in a public toilet,
Why inspect a turd?, surely it’s still a turd.
Am with [Malfoy] above remove it, it serves no purpose

people that hide their builds are usually pvper’s, so they don’t want other’s to know their secrets. If you’ve ever tried pvp, it’s way different specs needed then for pve. For some odd reason pvp players are really secretive about their builds. You can hardly find info on it anywhere, blizz also won’t be transparent about hidden caps in pvp which is annyoing
