After around 5 years (Since late 2018) away from the game I got a bit nostalgic and googled on hearthstone. I thought it would be impossible to get back into it at this point then I heard you would get a free starter deck. I logged in and found nothing though. I do get welcome back quests but no free decks. I only see 2 wild decks (old ones I guess) and then one random demon hunter deck I’ve never seen before.
Anyhow, there seems to be something weird so would be great if someone can help me! I tried playing a few games with the demon hunter deck as well but nothing happened.

If I recall correctly, a returning player first gets a series of (relatively easy) quests that they need to complete in order. After that, they get access to the “loaner decks”, that they can then try for a week. And once that week is over, they can choose one of those decks to keep.
Thank you for your reply. In the latest official blizzard post on the subject it said that returning players don’t need to do anything but the decks will be available as soon as they log in. For the record, I just completed the last returning player quest and still have no “loaner decks”… sad face
You need to graduate from the new player ranks as well.
The last time, (some months ago) when I tried loaner decks on the Asian server (where I’m not playing), I got to play all of the loaner decks for the rest of the season, and then chose one to keep with all cards in it.
I think it should still work the same.

So I was not a returner then after missed out more than 5 years and returned 2 years ago. because I didn’t get anything… They added these new decks for returning player right after that… I was so happy…
