Hi all. I’ve had possibly one of the craziest games by a long shot.
The game was so long; I made it to turn 20 before my opponent destroyed me for one and only one reason: attacking first.
He was playing Mechs, and I was playing Quilboar rally build. Starting from turn 17 all the way until turn 20 (the final), he kept attacking first every single time, giving him a massive advantage. My first two Quilboars were the one with Windfury, which gives blood gems to all other friendly minions, and the person that gets to attack first is crucial.
Even after my losses, I was managing to stay alive for 4 rounds, as, unusually, my opponent would win by just having one minion on board, so not much damage was taken. Now imagine if I were to attack first and get extra stats on my board with the blood gems, what would have happened…
Surely something has to be wrong here - how is it even possible and fair for my opponent to attack first FOUR times in a row?? I was destroying the lobby the entire game, then the game was like NOPE, not today, buddy.
Doesn’t sound all that unlikely - It’s a 1/16 chance of it happening 4 times in a row.
Had you been Illidan, things would have probably been different but that’s what happens when your build relies on such a plan as attacking first every time. And it’s not that unusual that you would lose to a bigger minion if they stacked everything on top of it - Quillboar don’t do catchup all that well. You probably might have been better off switching to some scam like Leeroys & Bile Spitters, maybe some cleave with Gem Transfer.

You are right and this is something I have already reported on. My opponents attacked first for the vast majority of games resulting in MMR loss. Its the algorithm that decided before the game started that you would not win and the system basically just forced its decision.
There is nothing you could have done to win the game. No decisions, strategy, plays etc could have saved you. It was decided before your first turn started.
Switching mid-game = loss and Bilespitters vs divine shield mech = loss.
All you can do is start another game and hope that you are lucky enough that the algo chooses you to win.
