Patch 31.2.2 includes balance changes to Standard, Wild, Battlegrounds, Arena, and more!
Thank heavens you didn’t touch Asteroid Shaman, that would have made the game better and who wants that.
I’m glad Sonya and Sigil have been addressed for standard. Better late than never.
I’m not sure about Crystal Cluster as all data shows the big offender is Dungar but ok.
I’m also shocked Oracle was not nerfed.
But I am absolutely livid about what you guys seem not to see or ignore: the game experience is atrocious in standard.
And here’s why:
- losing to asteroids
- losing to Warsong Grunt
- losing to Wheel of Death
- losing to Odin 100+ armour swing
- losing to infinite warrior (Fizzle / Zola)
this feels absolutely awful for the player on the losing side because the game doesn’t offer an answer. While Grunt can be sniped via Dirty Rat (not reliable but possible) and Odin too, although with such a small % chance it’s almost irrelevant, the other scenarios cannot be dealt with in current standard.
And this is a sick trend that is going on since quite a while as we just went through the most toxic meta with tsunami mage.
A loss is part of the game and the regular way of dealing with it is “darn, I drew terribly / darn, my opponent had a godlike opening / darn, my win condition was last card in deck / etc”
Opposite, right now whenever one loses in standard, the only way to deal with it is “XXXX you and your family until the 11th generation you piece of trash”
And this is NOT healthy.
You MUST solve this. And it’s not even hard to do.
Here’s a quick list of suggestions:
- hire a team to test the new cards (you clearly don’t have one or they are just pretending to work)
- stop printing cards with mana cheat. NO mana cheat. NO. BAD. STOP.
- fancy a new card/mechanic/synergy? Cool. Now print something that CAN deal with it reliably. Do you like asteroids? Why on Earth Steamcleaner is not in standard? <—This.
- if a card can generate an infinite loop, DON’T print it.
- if a card gives a sense of inevitability, DON’T print it.
- if a… you know what? Fire the entire team, hire a new team and start anew, this is going nowhere.
What baffles me most of all things is that Beasts are still left unchecked in Battleground, absolutely zero impact changes for it. Scarab being sent to T4? Good, but you even gave it more stats and it is still so early for scaling.
The Rover needs to be set as Battlecry only and not spawn scarabs. Maybe remove some of the deathrattle minions as well.
New: 8/6. Taunt. Deathrattle: Give 2 different friendly minions this minion’s Attack.
Dev Comment: This change means that Nightbane’s Deathrattle can no longer give Attack to itself or any other friendly Nightbanes. The effect is otherwise unchanged.
According to the dev comment, I think the description should be something like: Give 2 random friendly minions (other than this) this minion’s Attack.
