Just as stated in the title, there also seems to be a few weird or inconsistent interactions in battlegrounds.
Minions with 0 health that get buff by spawn come back to life, it doesn’t seem right that it works like this, shouldn’t there be a check to see if minions have died before the next deathrattle procs.
Also while mama bears effect still works when she’s dead (the same with juggler), which seems a little weird, why is it that Pack leaders effect does not work the same?
Finally if you have juggler in play and an opponents last minion is a deathrattle which spawns another minion and dies in the process of killing a demon, the juggle won’t proc.
I understand that some effects must take precedence over another and that the precedence is determined from left to right but it doesn’t seem right in some cases that it should only work that way especially when the death of a minion is being factored in.
I started to hate Battlegrounds after update
animations look wierd, there is a wierd pause at the beginning of the fight and sometimes you cannot even tell WTF is happening on the battlefield
If they get damaged and buffed in the same phase, then that is working as expected. Same happens in the “normal” game.
Even though animations play one by one, effects in the same phase are considered to be simultaneous and the order is only used for conflict resolution.
So if an Unstable Ghoul and a Spawn of N’Zoth die at the same time, then regardless of the order the deathrattles trigger, all your minions get both 1 damage and 1 health buff, so they remain at the same health (while still triggering possible on-damage effects, such as those Security Rover or Rotface have).
For Mama Bear and Pack Leader, the effect works the same. What you see as a difference is probably caused by different order of phases.
Imagine an effect that kills a few minions at the same time. They first remain on board while the effect (and possible other effects that are theoretically at the same time) plays out. Then all dead minions are removed, their deathrattles are listed on a queue, and that queue is processed one by one.
For both Mama Bear and Pack Leader, when they are still on the board (even at zero or negative health) when a beast spawns, they buff it. When they are removed, then they don’t buff new summons.
That is correct. Remember, your demon and the opponent deathrattle die at the same time. They remain as zero health, and then death processing starts. It finds two minions to remove. One is a demon, at which time the juggle takes place immedately. At that time, there is either a zero-health minion on the other side, which is not a valid target; or no minion and a deathrattle on the queue. Either case there is no valid target for the juggler to hit.
The deathrattle then triggers after that.
As far as I know (but I may be wrong here) order of evaluation in BG is the same as in the “normal” game, based on the order in which minions entered the board. Though that is a bit wacky and unpredictable because you have no idea in what order the opponent’s minions hit the board.
All that being said, if you believe you have seen a bug, then you should report those at the bug report forum: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/hearthstone/c/bug-report/8. The game mode is still in beta after all.
If possible, add screenshots or video recording so that everything that happens on the board is visible, and it’s easier for Blizzard to understand the exact circumstances.
