Battlepass feedback

I am not slightly unimpressed with this new system as it does not benefit me as much as expected contrary to what was promised. I like the battlepass rewards in general especially the hero portraits. The xp required is not something I am very keen on. I would like to pass on some suggestions that may improve the system.

I think it would be nice to make an option so the fully fledged skins are purchasable for 2500 gold and the simple portraits cost 1000 gold?

It would be nice to even out the exp requirement per level and lower the overall experience required between lvl 1-50 by a bit, maybe 15%?

I would also consider the packs and tavern ticket in the track to also give gold so the pack is a bonus and the player feels rewarded instead of ā€˜robbed’ of gold.

I would like to see a return of the wins for gold system. I think 5 gold should be given for every win up to 25 a day. This is to make every win rewardable and these amounts do add up. It would help free to play players to remain engaged and keep up with mid-expansion sets and keep the player population stable. It will also keep people involved daily.

Finally it would have been nice that was an expansion event for xp or free packs (from missions) were included instead of it being frontloaded in the battle pass.

I think these suggestions will create an appreciated gold sink but also encourage players to spend more money on the game which will keep shareholders happy too.

Thank you for your attention

Another post on the same topic, how boring

I think Blizzard have got the message now.

Given the long lack of a response, they must be preparing something big, can’t wait to see how they respond.

these manz better remove battlepass blud or manz gonna quit

I do not think they will remove battlepass, they will just tweak it.

Why… is there still not a response to this!!! It’s almost as if they think the tiny adjustments they made from turning the useless packs into gold was enough without addressing the XP problem…

I reckon they are waiting to see the stats themselves. They need data to be able to compare. They will be preparing something behind the scenes but the lack of communication is really bad customer service.

Hearthstone has a huge player base and there is money to be made so they should really not be trying to annoy people.

The flip side is that only a very small per suit people are angry and Blizzard have received lots of good feedback in which case they are ignoring the noise makers as the game is doing healthy.

I do wish they did say something, anything, even a one liner to say they are investigating. I think the Hearthstone Public Relations manager needs reassigning to a different job in Blizzard.

So, in theory we get the same amount of rewards per play…
Thanks to the progression system is exponentially incremental, at level 35 you need the ridiculous amount of 5050xp to get a tavern pass, equivalent to 150gold. That is (if one trusts blizzard) about 11hours of play, HALF A DAY.
I would get this amount in half the time in the old system. From lvl 25 onwards (being generous here, more like since lvl 15) the rewards don’t match the time spent to reach the level.
Make a more linear progression and - AT LEAST - double the amount of xp. Ideally, 3 times the xp would be only fair.
p.s. I started playing before WotOG brought by a group of 4 friends. All 4 of them quit already, final nail in the coffin when you changed from 2 to 3 expansions a year. There are more examples like this, running away from this absurdly expensive game, FIX IT!

Yeah Blizzard really cocked up with the xp system. They should have linked xp earned to games played and not time spent playing. It would have been a lot more simpler then. Add in a bonus for winning games as well.

I’d rather be thinking along the lines of - I need to play 11 games to get my next level, maybe less if I win a few games.

I don’t like thinking - F@*# me, I need to grind for 11 hours to get 150 gold.

OMG, another one who forgets there are Quests and Achievements (ok, maybe included Daily quest in the calculation) and who forgets that there are previous levels with a different ratio of reward to XP. Probably another one of those aggro grinders. Yeah, they got hurt, that is true. I wonder when will Blizzard start communicating with us.

He has a valid point, 11 hours for a level is not good. Put daily’s in which makes it 9 hours maybe, weeklys reduce it more but once youve used weeklys the grind is real.

Well, it is not entirely valid. Forgetting the previous levels and the average XP/gold ratio. People see the levels only, but many level-based systems turn to a grind at higher levels. You may say that Hearthstone is no MMORPG, but still, higher level = grinding is quite normal. Depends on rewards and in the Rewards Track, rewards keep at around 30XP/gold. The only problem is that in the old system, it was easier to farm gold from wins. Players who did not do that should be ok, only grinders suffer.

I never ever saw Hearthstone as a game which involved grinding. It used to by chill out game and a couple times a week I would put in extra time and smash it a bit.

When a game turns to a grind it’s a major turnoff.

I used to play Eve online, what a grind that was, I lived it for years, then woke up and realised there is a real world out there.

I used to play Destiny, that was a grind as well, don’t play it.

I liked hearthstone because it was a quick game, 1-2 hours Max a day of my time.

Maybe I’m looking at it wrong and should not worry about climbing battlepass but it seems to have me in some kind of frenzy in which I feel I need to climb the ranks. It’s an odd feeling, not sure why.

Well, those who claim to have gained 100+ gold each day are close to be called grinders I think. I was able to do like 70-80 with casual playing each day.

I find your note of ā€œit seems to have me in some kind of frenzyā€ very interesting: I think that is what is felt by a lot of players including me. I think it is some kind of psychology thing. I think people feel that if they do not level up each day, they must be doing something wrong or that the battle pass is wrong, but it is not the case. Yes, it takes longer to level up, but yes, the rewards increase although many players do not believe that. I keep talking about that 30XP/gold ratio. We need to look at it as a season thing, compute it all together.

Yes you have hit the nail on the head. Capitalism and consumerism physcology is messing with our heads.

On the old system the goal post was very small. One quest a day and a few 3 win bonuses to keep us sweet.

New system plans everything out and the goal post is so far away that we are now in turmoil as we are used to achieving everything in a small amount of time by completing a daily quests and now it seems like a massive hurdle.

I need to break the hold and just play as I used to and see what happens at the end.

What is your calculation at the moment to how much gold you have earned? I’m curious to know as you mentioned you have a spreadsheet and are logging stats.

Well, I am missing some 100 XP to reach level 33. It is important to know that I have the Tavern Pass, although not from the start - bought it on Nov 19.

At level 33, it will be 2100 gold not including other rewards. There are also 10 packs which I value at 100 gold, but I understand that I am a minority with this  If I go with 2100 gold and 17 days since Nov 12, it is ca. 123 gold/day, with packs included, it is 182 gold/day.

At higher levels, the ratio will decrease most probably. If I maintain around 80 gold/day at the end of the season, it will be similar to my pre-pass days, which would be quite sad considering I have bought the pass  To be fair, I have not tracked my gold before the system change so I might be wrong. I just know that I managed to get around 6 rares from old expansions per week just from the gold, so around 6 packs/week.

I do not know if I have answered.

The problem is that we, players, are not the same regarding the value of non-gold rewards and also in regards of time spent to gain those 10gold/3win rewards. That means that battle pass rewards have to be taken subjectively. The pass is not great or terrible for every player, it is different.

Thanks, that’s answered my question. I have not worked it out.

I’m at the point where I don’t need to spend gold anymore to buy packs so I’m just saving. I have most of the cards I need. I’m missing the Druid legendary cards which is a shame but I can play quit a few other deck recipes.

I will just be accumulating now and see how I end up.

I could see myself playing a lot of seppuku Warlock in the background whilst doing other things if I got XP per game.

It will be interesting how you end up feeling about the system as time goes on now that you’ve reached the point where you ā€œdon’t care about instant goldā€.

Next week I’ll get 600g + the final pack which is at least 100 gold and a pack more than I would have normally got but I admittedly have no idea how it’s gona scale after that. I think/hope it’s gona be 3 levels a week at 200g and 2 levels a week at 300g which will still net me 600g which will see me be 100g up but I think we can all agree that they made the system overly complicated to actually work that stuff out.
