BG Duos: don't be all over the place

Players must choose quickly what they are playing. Otherwise you will messing your team mate around and they will not know what to pass.

Example. Today I played a game where my team mate chose a Mech hero. And then they chose minions from different tribes and then suddenly they wanted to play mechs again.

Confusing. Choose early and wisely.

We did win the game though, fortunately my team mate through with some excellent plays and combined with my awesome warband we banked the win and got the sweeties.

Sometimes you just don’t find the ones you’re missing and you have to improvise mid-game. It’s better than spending all your coins for rolling and having an empty table for several turns.

As a rule you should not pass minions to your partner unless they’re asking for some spesific ones. My games get often ruined by partners who pass minions I’ve not asked for but they think they know better.

For example: It’s very frustrating to get triples made out of minions you would absolutely not want to merge, or would not like to merge at that point. But once your partner forces the third minion on you you lose everything and will have to replan your game.

I keep an eye on my partner’s game but never ever send any cards on them without asking. I never tell them what to do or which cards to play or sell. Sometimes I ask them to buy me a minion if it’s something I really really need. Otherwise I think it’s best they use their gold for looking for the minions they need themselves.

Of course during some games I pass cards like spells or murlocs if “passing” is their main source of force. But other than that I think it’s wisest to keep both games separate and just kind of “support” the other player. You should not try to control the other player in any way or tell them how to play.

I just had a game where my partner left because I didn’t buy the minions (elementals) they told me to buy. I don’t buy important minions as a rule at least not before I’ve made them grow into 20/20 or above in the tavern. And it doesn’t make sense to buy certain elementals unless you have found some other ones first. My partner quit the game because they got fed up with me for not going their way and doing exactly what they told me to do.

They themselves had used their gold to gain tiers. The rest of the time they used spectating my game and telling me to do things like to roll the tavern or buy useless minions and so on.

There’s no way I’m buying a 6/3 wildfire elemental. Ever. Period.

If I’m playing elementals or demons and my partner passes me a minion that small I will lose it. Especially if it will make a triple of a minion that I would’ve wanted to make the deal breaker in the end.

So my advice is jut to let everybody play whatever and stop trying to control their game. You can’t read their minds so don’t force minions on them. There’s no only one way to play this game and even if someone is going for mechs you can’t know which mechs they want to play. So don’t assume. If you have leftover gold then by all means pass magnetics but that’s it. Wait until they ask something from you.

To my latest partner I probably seemed to be “all over the place” but if they would’ve had the balls to actually play the game they would’ve seen what I was aiming for and understood me in the end. It doesn’t make sense that I should’ve played differently just so they could’ve kept up with me.

In general I agree with you. I also hate it when I get obviously bad advice or unwanted cards.

However, at higher ranks you should know the meta builds and pass accordingly. If my team mate is playing Dragons and he needs a Poet I will pass it without asking. It is obvious he must have it.

If he then simply just sells it, then I am allowed to be upset. And yes, this does happen, even at 5k+ there are players who cannot play. How they get to 5k is a mystery.
