Recently I have been compiling data in Battlegrounds and to my shock I have realized that my opponent attacks first at least 66% of the time. At an absolute minimum. And when I do attack first it is usually inconsequential.
This leads to many losses as Windfury is dominating the meta. A player who attacks first has a massive advantage, especillay with Quilboars and Dragons.
If you use Deck Tracker that I do, it will give you a % chance to win, but this is only calculated AFTER the first attack. Why is this? Becuase the program know that if you attack first, it gives you a major advantage.
Therefore, a player like me, who seldom attacks first is going to end up with more losses and plenty of 0% to win.
This is almost as bad as the matchmaking system for Duos. It needs to be rectified immediately.

As far as I know hsreplay combat data has always been calculated before any rng takes place in combat, including first attack or hero power rng (brukan).
You’ve just gotten unlucky
Maybe in earlier builds, the devs could probably share more info on the calculations.
However, my personal experience is that the stats are created after first attacks.
The current meta with Windfury and the unfair advantage the first attack affords must be taking into consideration.
If it comes down to the last 4 players it should keep track of who goes first, I once had a game where my build performed massively better if attacking first, and in the 1v1 I attacked second 7 times in a row before losing, should give each player a chance going first as it does make a massive difference
Sad this discussion died. I found some old discussions around this with a lot of good ideas. The goal is to make first attacker predictable ofc. Here they are:
- lowest/highest atk minion first
- lowest/highest tier first etc.
- lowest/highest health player first
… and so on, there are plenty of factors you can take as a predictable decision point, even more complex ones. Imo they are ALL better than 50/50 RNG. And I don´t see any problem with implementing it fast and easily.
