I’m quite disappointed with Blizzard with the Book of Heroes, and Valeera seems to be even worst than all the other heroes they ever did.
First thing i noticed is that when retrying bosses i would have the same identical cards and drew the same cards in the same order. Then i arrived against Garona Halforcen, boss that i personally think is the worst design and balanced ever. Retried the game 6 times, and all of them i had the same cards in the opening hand, same cards in the mulligan, same cards drew in the same exact order, and Garona played the same identical cards in the same identical order in the same identical turns all the matches. The only variable is the hero power or the individual random effects, but for the rest the game is clearly rigged.
Is it a bug? Is it something they wanted? Am i the only one having this problem or are other people noticing that the games are rigged with force draws? Cause i can’t believe it is something designed so badly on purpose. But then again Garona Halforc is such a bad boss, dealing right away 10 damage turn 2 and managing to sap any taunts i manage to randomly summon since the deck doesn’t even have any to protect my face.
Wonderful design and balancing Blizz, this time i’m really disappointed. Found every hero book quite weak, but with Valeera, if it’s not a bug or error, you f. up big.

Yeah I noticed it on boss 1, which actually took me a few tries as I was taking the wrong line. Nothing else took me more than 2 tries (Cho’gall and the final boss took a couple).
On 1 hand it seems lazy and has basically reduced the encounters to a puzzle on the other, it does mean you’re not waiting for for rng to give you a chance.
I fatigued Garona Halforcen on the first attempt, can’t remember if i got luck of not but i just made sure i had 2 taunts up each turn whilst stealing cards from her deck with the hero power (didn’t know she would destroy her own deck anyway
)
The only one i had to redo was the tauren boss (the second boss i think) and all the rest were “simple” enough. But Garona is impossible for me, even knowing what cards i will draw and she will use: i steal cards, i try and summon taunts whenever i can, but in the end it doesn’t matter. She keeps sapping, keeps going face, and wins. I don’t know how you can have two taunts each turn cause there are none in the deck and the only way is RNG for that xD but after 6 times i just trashed the gamemode and played better things.
I would like the puzzle aspect, but then again it’s not a card game at that point. And if you want the puzzle aspect you still don’t keep RNG things like the hero power or stealing/discovering cards. And finally, you don’t make it more puzzle like but make it damn hard, cause you can tell me you beated her first try, but i can’t do s. xD
I was really annoyed with Garona. It is not about anything else but luck whether she burns you or not. I had to try several times before she somehow go stuck and I could finish her off, but giving her a set of cards to begin with? D–k move, devs! Why do we not start with 18 lives, when that is exactly what happens EVERY SINGLE GAME and we can do squat about it… Shame on you, devs, shame on you.

I think I got a mirror image from the wand thief and she didn’t sap or attack them with the weapon.
When i manage to find that card (cause that is not scripted, it’s random) she usually kills them with double Fan of Blades or Sap them. Again, i’m not completely against the scripted idea, but don’t make the game be RNG at that point, where you really need the best of luck to win the game. Cause to me it seems that the only possible way is to discover Mirror Image and play it at the right moment, steal the 6/8 taunt she has, make her waste Saps, hope to steal his key cards (Sap, Eviscerate) and pray. This is not fun nor interactive, it’s just blatant luck with no reason whatsoever.
Tried again too many times, all the times the same results. I can change play how many times i want, i even experimented with many possible things considering it’s scripted, the result is always the same. Scripted game but still with RNG effects that makes the game just punishing and horrible, zero fun. Glad you managed to finish it, but for me Valeera is the worst Book of Heroes and they need to address this issue. Every Book of Heroes has been disappointing, and they just keep making them worst instead of improving them.
I mean compared to some of the heroic solo content in the past, this required way less luck
But for a “normal” mode where a lot of people just want the pack, it probably should be easier.
With Garona you need to draw cards asap, so you can play Jaina Proudmoore, that puts a Water Elemental into play. That stalls her.
Other stall cards like Mirror Image or the one that makes you invulnerable for 1 turn help.
It’s basically puzzle mode.
The 5 drop always redraws Jaina as it’s the only card that didn’t start in your deck.
I actually think Valeera is one of the best Book of Heroes in a while. Certainly better than Anduin and Uther. I did not encounter any issues or apparent “rigged” card mulligan/draws. Actually the only thing that I can say is proabably certainly rigged is when Valeera discovers a Mage card, if I remember correctly it’s always a choice between summon two 0/2 taunts, pyroblast and one other thing, maybe fireball. Maybe even that wasn’t scripted and it’s just a case of fantastic RNG. My experience with Valeera was nice. Far better than Anduin, and I can’t say I had such a hard time with Garona. Beat her on my 3rd attempt (tho I wasn’t really paying attention on my 1st try so basically 2nd try). I will agree however, the story itself was absolute nonsense that is almost 100% percent not canon, but the dialogue was far better, less cringe, and I even found myself chuckling a few times. I have a feeling the VA for Valeera might have had a hand in this.
I’m disappointed because I wanted to buy her. But when I looked in the shop, Gladiator Valeera was nowhere to be found.
I think it’s bad, not on purpose but by design. It makes the gameplan to be very exact. Heroes is one of the worst single player experiences I’ve had in Hearthstone.
