Bug? Zerg DK using a bug? see replay link. the card ( lay down the law ) not working

lay down the law does nothing.
https://hsreplay.net/replay/dkR8BS2CW77CDMdXTC9oJQ
context the card does set a minion attack and health to 1 , and if played in quickdraw it does do 1 dmg too to that minion.

now however it keep setting DK zergs minions to 5/5 and does 1 dmg only.
so the card is no longer board clearer and its a trap.
wanted or unwatend bug. this need to be fixed.

I think you misunderstood what happened. There is no bug here, just an interaction that I assume you haven’t seen before.

Your opponent had permanent +X/+X Zerg buffs in play from the “Infestor” minion; in this case +4/+4. The way this works is as follows:

  1. Your opponents minion was at 8/2 stats.
  2. “Lay Down the Law” reduces the minions stats to 1/1.
  3. Before the damage effect happens, the continuous +4/+4 buff is reapplied - the minion becomes a 5/5.
  4. The damage effect is applied, doing 1 damage, bringing the minion to 5/4.

It has always worked this way with continuous buffs and similar effects.

Imagine having something like a “Warhorse Trainer” (+2 Attack to Silver Hand Recruits) in play. While in play, the attack of Silver Hand Recruits can never be anything less than 3, even if you use a card that would reduce it, because the effect is reapplied immediately.

It is not a bug, it is Aura effect, disgusting thats for sure… Hope it will be changed…

That was an excellent summary, well said.

indeed i haven’t seen this interaction before. however the issue remains.
when a card says set xx to 1-1. and it does not , thats a trap.
unless they add to it (none pre- buffed minionens) whichs not the purpose of the entire card.

This is not a new thing, Priest minion, Astral Automaton works the same way. And there were other cards which did the same. You can’t reduce the minions health to 1 because they get a nonstop buff.

This is beyond broken.

I don’t see how this one specifically is healthy and consciously implemented. You will have 1 deck only being played. At the moment this deck has an baffling presence of 13.5% WITH A WHOPPING 56.2% win rate!

The fact that it keeps getting reapplied on 1 cost “summon a copy” minions and locations is a gameplay breaking mechanic. Think about it, which other combos this strong and easily repeatable do you get completed FOR THE REST OF THE GAME at turn 3?

You guys calling this “intended” are insane.
