Started the meta with Ramp Druid and had surprising success to begin with, going 21-4 on the first day. Now karma slapping me in the face and I’m suddenly getting destroyed by everything, even the decks I had effortless wins against previously.
So, I thought I’d try something new and not being a fan of aggressive decks, I thought I’d give control shaman a whirl.
When it works…its great. I can hold my own with pretty much anything. Problem is it only seems to be good sporadically. I’m getting tripped by bad card draw, very rarely getting even half decent curve. Getting into situations where I’ve got a stacked hand full of card draw mechanics where I can’t afford to be drawing or hands full of unplayable cards. Very often I’m way behind by turn 4-5 and have no realistic chance of turning things around.
Apparently this deck is supposedly pretty strong atm but my win rate isn’t much better than about 40%, and I’m not exactly a newbie player.
Anyone else being using this deck and having any success with it? Am I just suffering from a patch of seriously bad card draw or is the deck not as strong as sites like HSReplay suggest?
Probably just a combo of a bad patch plus your inexperience with the deck. Maybe try watching some videos on youtube as multiple people have hit rank 1 legened with it of late.
You’ve gota remember your MMR is up from your great Druid run but now players are figuring out how to play whichever meta deck it is they’ve decided to main so you’re bound to be facing slightly stronger opponents (relatively) that you would otherwise.
I don’t think it’s an inexperience thing, I know I’m newish to the deck, but it’s not an overly complicated deck to play, especially for an experienced control player. I’m pretty certain I’m just going though a major bad patch as the reason I switched from druid was my card draw was becoming shocking and I was thinking maybe druid was struggling to keep up with the evolving meta. But bow I’m finding the same thing on shaman but wasn’t sure if it’s me or the deck.
Went back to my druid last night, played 5 games…in those 5 games I go no ramp for 6 turns and Guff and Denathrius were always near the back of my deck, but out of the reach of dredge…just can’t play with this kind of card draw but it’s been going on for days now.
