I find it strange that Darkbishop Benedictus is a card in standard right now, but the diamond version of the card is categorized as a wild card. Surely this is a mistake from blizzard which has classified it wrong. It does not have an impact on my game experience right now, but I’m bringing it up as I find it strange.
I can not say whether this is intended behaviour or a mistake. However, I can offer an explanation.
When Blizzard decides to add an old card to the Core set (as their means of reintroducing old cards back into Standard), then what they actually do is create a new copy of the card, that is part of the Core set. The old copy remains untouched. You can even see this in your collection manager. If you set the expansion filter to Standard Cards or Wild Cards (or Core) and then search for Benedictus, you will see the Core version, which is uncraftable. But if you set the expansion selector to United in Stormwind (the set this card is actually part of), then you will see copies you own from that set. The biggest difference is that they are craftable (well, the normal and golden versions are). But there is also a very subtle difference in the artwork, that you can see if you look closely at the background of the text box.
Most Core cards are available only in Normal or Golden. You have received those copies. But there is no Diamond Benedictus in Core, so you didn’t receive that version, nor can you earn it. You do still have your Diamond copy of the Descent of Dragons version - but since that set rotated out of Standard, you are not allowed to use that card in any Standard deck.
Yes but they should reuse the diamond version cos they’re cool cosmetics. Unlike signatures
