Deck trackers give unfair advantage

I play almost exclusively on mobile (iOS) as I enjoy sitting in my sofa rather than in front of a monitor when I play. I’m not a hardcore gamer and although I have a good pc, I only use it occasionally for simulation and more demanding games.

Deck trackers give unfair advantage to those players who decide to use a pc - in bgs, they see my previous hand, I don’t… in standard they can tell what cards they still have left in the deck and what is left in mine, I don’t.

Does it make me a better player? Probably as have to memorise 6-7 set ups in battlegrounds each time and all the meta decks in standard. Does it give them unfair advantage? Again, probably as they only have to move their mouse for all this info.

Is it unfair? Definitely and I don’t know why blizzard aren’t doing anything about it

You do realize there is tracker for mobile right? I play exclusively on mobile and use mobile tracker…

For iOS? I don’t think so… here’s a quote from hs replay “ Unfortunately, apps on iOS and iPadOS are isolated from each other in such a way that it is impossible for a deck tracker to access Hearthstone’s data during the game”

Blizzard has stated many years ago that any software that does the same that you could do with pen and paper is acceptable and doesn’t go against that T&C. HDT and others fall into that category. I found this odd initially because I would never use pen and paper to do this, but then I saw the World Championship for the first time and there were players actually writing down stuff!

Is it unfair? In my opinion, yes it is, however you do have an option… with pen and paper. And since you have a computer and pen and paper, then it is unwise to expect others to accommodate because you don’t.

Regarding iOS, all iOS apps run in their own sandbox and can’t access other apps. At best they can get data from other apps of the same developer, but that’s it. No overlays, no access to other software memory addresses, etc. As far as I know, this makes it impossible to have a tracker on iOS. If I’m wrong about this, let me know.

why don’t they allow it in the grandmasters if it’s the same as pen and paper?? This way people can choose their preferred method…

The only difference with pen and paper is the data that blizzard and other third parties have access to.

I’m sure the entire thing results in them having access to one of the most important assets - data. I haven’t got proof but I can’t explain why they would come up with such a silly excuse if they don’t benefit from it in some way

They don’t allow it in any official Blizzard competition, no idea why, maybe to level the playing field.

Players are not allowed to install third-party programs/make any changes to the PCs due to potential security issues, as stated by the 2019 Hearthstone Masters Tournament Player’s Handbook section 6.10 (Which I doubt has changed in the following years in any significant fashion):
Unless explicitly authorized by a Tournament official, players are prohibited from adjusting any computer settings outside the settings of the game client.

Whether you actually believe that to be their motive behind not allowing it, that’s a different story altogether…

A better question to ask is “why haven’t they added an in client one?”, to which I don’t have an answer.

I actually like not having a deck tracker, so selfishly don’t want one added as I would feel obligated to use it, but for the masses they should’ve added one years ago and am actually surprised that they haven’t.

Yes I use android. IOS is vastly inferior in that sense.
